As the year draws to a close its time for this years Christmas project, I was going to do another Nutcracker this year however time has got away from me so that will have to wait until next year now. So here is the Christmas Gonk!

Great turning AND you solved the toughest part of the assembly for me! I always used hot glue around the edges and sometimes it can get messy. Your spray adhesive will now be my go to method. I also turned my Gonk in one piece including the hat but I like your method because of the contrasting wood/resin...adds a lot of possibilities. 👍👍👍👍👍

Thanks Larry, the spray adhesive is very good, just needs to be left for a couple of mins to go tacky and then straight on 👍

Beautiful gonk Matt. I first heard of gonk’s last year when I was turning gnomes. I guess gonk’s is a a good name for them.

I love gonks...they're my favourite decorations 😁 love how he looks like he sat a little to close to the fire so his butt is burnt, but that's what makes him extra special 💙😁

One story is Gonks are more covered in hair and invented in the 1960s by Robert Benson. Another is they date back to the 1300s, either way I like them 😁

Not normally Mark, I know they do on a commercial level, but they also sell the burls by weight and not size, so when the get them wet..🤑

I love your work but your laithe practice does make me wince a bit sometimes... I'm genuinely surprised you haven't lost a knuckle yet. But I do love a good Gonk.
