Woodvale Crematorium Process Tour (DEAD BODIES)

Woodvale one of the biggest and oldest crematoriums in Brighton, I got a break from my work and went to the have a tour around the grounds. I saw the very respectful war memorials, and some very interesting graves. I got to see the stone masons in action, they do the names on the stones and even designs of your choice. Church itself is massive!! They had an interactive coffin drawing task for visitors and I drew some sunflowers, my fav flowers. I sat in on a talk run by a lecturer who spoke about victorian grieving and I actually used this information in a future essay I wrote in my Exploring Death and Dying class.
But the most interesting had to be cremation process, that I saw behind the scenes of and where all the dead bodies get cremated at. With real bodily metals that they have collected from recently deceased patients. I give some more exploration of this in the video. I found it really interesting how the entire human body is burned into ash but some liquid parts are left in blue barrels and a mysterious company comes and collects it, but we have no idea where these body barrels go??? crazy right! I even went afterwards for a nighttime swim and the ocean was really warm and had some fun times on the pier!

In the hushed halls of Woodvale's domain, Where souls depart and memories wane, I wandered amidst the solemn grace, In search of solace, in this sacred place. War memorials stand tall and proud, A tribute to those who once stood proud, Their names etched in stone, their sacrifice, A reminder of lives paid at a heavy price. Stone masons ply their ancient trade, Crafting names and designs, their art displayed, Inscribed upon the silent stones, Where grief and memory find their home. Within the massive church's embrace, I sought refuge, a moment's grace, Amidst the echoes of whispered prayer, I found a fleeting comfort there. An interactive task, a coffin to draw, I sketched sunflowers, my heart in awe, For in their petals, a symbol of hope, Amidst the shadows where grief can't elope. A lecture on Victorian grieving lore, I listened, absorbed, and wanted more, For in the echoes of the past, I found, A glimpse into the human heart's profound. But it was the cremation's solemn rite, That held me captive in the night, Behind the scenes, where shadows fall, And bodies are consumed, one and all. With real bodily metals, a solemn sight, As flames devour flesh, into the night, Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, In this eternal dance, we place our trust. Yet mysteries linger in the dark, As liquid remnants leave their mark, In blue barrels, they silently wait, For a company's visit, their unknown fate. Woodvale, keeper of the souls' reprieve, In your hallowed halls, we find our leave, Amidst the warmth of the ocean's embrace, We find solace, in this sacred space.
