George Vondriska teaches you how to make a simple woodworking jig for accurately cutting across the end grain of narrow pieces of wood on a router table without blowback or chipping. He likes to refurbish old push pads by scraping off the worn out rubber pad and drilling the plastic handle to a ¾", 10×10 base of MDF. This jig allows you greater control over the piece you are cutting on a router table by not allowing it to wobble or "walk".

Hey Vince, We are always open to new ideas. Shoot us some and we'll see if we can incorporate them into our videos. That goes for everyone. Shoot them over.

What's wrong with the old way of using something like that piece of ply you used as a backer when drilling as a buffer between the miter gauge and the workpiece? The ply would eliminate the chipout, it'd be a lot faster, and that's what the miter gauge slot was put there for. I must be missing something... (Don't get me wrong, this is a neat idea for a jig, but it seems like building a jig just for the sake of building a jig.)

I agree with realruler2112. Seems like a little unneeded geekiness.

I find this wood working book “pepe amazing plan” (Google it) well suited for me. Some of the topics talked about in the book include woodworking tactics, explanation on the progress cycles of trees, and various lumber characteristics that carpenters favor. I also gave my dad another copy.
