The crosscut sled is the most important jig for your table saw for making consistently square cuts. Watch as we follow the 5 cut method to make a sled that is dead on square. This is not a hard jig to make...you can do it! It's EASY!

Excellent video. I have a suggestion for you to teach novices who don't know jack squat about woodworking jigs (like me). Here are my questions if you don't mind answering: 1. What is the sloping angle pattern for the back sled fence? 2. Why didn't you created and install the exact same front fence you did for the back fence? Why the two pieces of wood with one lower rather than the two three quarter boards you did for the front fence? Runners and spacer: How thick are the spacers vs. how thick is the white oak runners. I know it will depend on how deep the groves are, but wanting to see on your what you did exactly? Thank you!

My last two crosscut sleds (and my 45 miter bevel sled) have been set up with a nice square. Never had an issued cutting perfect 90's! Personal belief is the 5 Cut Method is great if you want to be in thou' realm, but we need square dead cuts not finely tuned rocket motors! Great video Wes!

So your back fence just happened to be perfectly square, or did I miss something?

Sorry to point it out, but I think your 5 cut method was incorrect. Your last 2 cuts were made without turning the piece, so the piece you cut off is guaranteed to have parallel sides. You should have given it one more turn before the final cut.

I had to watch it again, but you're right. He should have turned it one more time for the 5th cut. Good catch.
