Making a cutting board for Thanksgiving? You need to carve a turkey for that. better yet! inlay the turkey. I am thankful for all the viewers of this channel so I thought it would be fun to make a cutting board with a blood groove and inlaid turkey with just hand tools.

how would you go about doing small inlayed lettering, specifically like algebraic notation on a chess board for example. im having troubles finding examples of this using traditional unplugged tools. everyone always breaks out the dremel or cnc in every video.
@WoodByWright

Good morning to do a few videos on that. But I haven't had a chance yet. What you want to look up is stringing. I don't know of many good videos on it right now but Roy Underhill actually did a video on it for the wouldWright shop years ago. Stringing is where you take send strings of wood and you fill them into a carved groove.

Could you tell me the reason for the sticky paper you marked the outline on please? Would scoring not go all the way through anyway? And if so, why not score directly onto the wood? X
@WoodByWright

the sticky paper is double sided tape. It holds the peace in place so ti does not move around the cutting marks go through it to the surface of the wood.

Okay.. A few questions for this Thanksgiving 2019 cutting board :) You inlaid each piece before going on to the next one, instead of doing them all at once. Why? What kind of glue is that brown glue you used? Did you dye it to get it that color? Epoxy? Is it waterproof? Where do you get it?
@WoodByWright
@WoodByWright 5 жыл бұрын
thanks. it would be almost impossible to get an accurate outline of all the pieces before putting them in, and doing them one at a time does not take that muchmore time. Also, this allows me to modify the peace or the the solt for it to get the best fit. as to the glue and die I have links to them in the iscription so you can see the exact stuff. it is a 5 minute epoxy allowing me to move on to the next pece quickly.
