Do you live in an area that sees heavy snowfall? Do you have a metal roof? Snow sliding off a roof can take a Class A Chimney with it as heavy snow can weigh tons. Obadiah's Cassey Dare and Woody chain show you how to protect your expensive chimney with a Snow Break that acts like the bow of a boat and cuts the sliding snow like a knife, saving your chimney from being flattened. The snow break also works on plumbing stacks and any vents you may have on your roof.
Sometimes known as "Snow Wedge" "Terminator" "Cricket" or "Roof Jack", we look at the various products out there and explain how they operate and how to install them. Please note: Snow does not slide off a shingle roof, it melts, and thus snow breaks are unnecessary there. We also do not build snow breaks, but we can supply them when requested and generally include them in our chimney quotes for folks with metal roofs.

Great idea with the adjustable hinge system! I struggled hrs trying to make proper angle cuts etc. to fashion one out of plywood

I call this a pipe diverter fabricate them all the time. Usually a 16 ga. galvanized piece with a colored skin so it matches the roof.

Just lay tall brick chimney . Steel has high conductivity and will stick snow of a big temp gradient , so far will melt snow and hoard ice . I’m from Russia .

What happens 3 feet of snow slides and the top of chimney getting clipped? that wind cap needs a collar on it.

True bro. I’m from Russia have got piles of heavy sticky snow . Metal caps clog up with ice, stone or brick ones work fine

Once again, as you seem to like dissing everyone on other channels too, what exactly is your solution? Don't give us 'look it up'. What exactly do YOU do to protect chimneys from heavy snow? I live in Canada and know snow. I suspect you're a city boy.
