VERY thorough! Even in the comments. I have learned so much watching your video and reading about the laws in the comments. Land of the free only if your brave ;) I was really surprised about the temperature underneath the stove. I can't believe a cat can stay under it! Thank you again for a really great video and who knows, I might see you in Montana one day! :)!

Thank you Obadiah. I am weighing my options, the Klover & the Ironheart are my lead two contenders, and the Ironheart is very much in the lead ATM. Am in the U.K and hope to get my stove soon.

This is beautiful! I'd love to get one when I can afford to get a hut in the woods!

You will never be able to afford a hut in the woods. You could go and build one but your fears won't permit you.

Great detailed review of a great stove! My wife cooked with wood five years. No she reminded me, eight. Heated the cabin, heated the water for laundry by hand family of four. (She lived on a commune back in the day too which was all wood) Im lucky to install a Hearthstone soapstone for heat. But dream of a summer kitchen and wood stove. This is great engineering and looks great! Old School High Tech! Obidiahs is my favorite !

I lust after the Esse 990, second choice Ironheart. But I have so many questions about both. We are in Washington, and didn't the EPA just make all wood-burning cookstoves illegal? I'm confused and spooked. I could have had one years ago, but didn't want to pony up the humongous amount of $$$$$. Did I just cheat myself out of one of these?? Washington State is getting to be so irrationally anti-rural it's sickening. Between federal and state EPA regs, we're being forced into electricity being fed out to our places at hellacious cost. Goodbye, salmon! Research on both these models has left me more confused than when I started.

I would also love either of those, but cant afford them especially compared to a normal wood heater though obviously on a normal one you could only really use the top plate to cook on. Some states in Australia are also cracking down on use of Wood heaters/stoves sadly though I do understand the pollution issue on misty mornings. We also have extremely high electricity charges - about 32cents per kilowatt hour peak and about 19cents off peak plus an outragous $1 per day supply charge (this one you cant avoid as long as you are connected to the network. fortunately having Solar on my roof has solved that issue but Gas is still really expensive and about to get even more expensive because of our shitty government having a bias to selling our locally produced gas internationally without having a separate market price for domestic use. Only way to get rid of electricity cost entirely would be to go off grid but currently the cost of batteries is still far to much to afford :( It would be ideal though.

MaZEEZam, I feel your pain. Solar would work great on our roof here, and fortunately there are rebates. Companies here in U.S. have taken to approaching a homeowner with a deal where they install everything free of charge and pocket the tax savings themselves, thus coming out ahead. I'm working on my husband about that!

But I still lust for an Esse. No amount of reality or economic truth can short out my dream!

I wanted an Esse until I saw the dogbone cooking surface & those "unusual" (I'm trying to be polite) cover plates. It's well built and would outlast me but aesthetics is also important.
