Wookey Hole is owned by Gerry Cottle, of "Gerry Cottle's Circus" fame. That's why all the circus and clown stuff is there. The eggs with clown faces on are actually quite a significant thing. Because (serious) clowns are required to have unique and individual make-up, they register their own look by getting it painted on an egg, as a kind of trademark register. So, all those eggs are related to real-life clowns and are the actual resource used when checking whether someone's already used a similar design. I believe that Gerry Cottle also runs a circus school there, so the show theatre would have featured performers from that. As such, the attraction isn't so random, once you know who's behind it all and what his background is.

It is good to see you out and about ...enjoying other 'parks' , plus I get to see the amazing UK Landscape. I try every year to grow heather. here in the states.......but the heat here just melts it out.... or the rabbits feast. I am going to retire in the UK .. .. and I have found my self enjoying Pepsi more and more as I grow wiser( sorry Lisa).

That clown room would have freaked me out!,, no wonder it smelled with all the mould in there, the caves did look amazing though. Another great vlog 👍

The caves are superb and more than worth the visit. I do mostly agree with what you said about the other attractions though.

So that was a great different vlog love Andy s honest review there is a clown heritage in Wells and the wooky witch and there is also a cletic and druid background in Somerset that's why the shop is random and the other caves you walk though are cheddar gorge that's a great place to go and 19 pound ain't bad 4 this place. From what I could see from the camera angle, the model coaster is based on Alpina Bahn, which travels the German fair circuit (there's sure to be a video somewhere...). So, no, Aplina Bahn has no inversions, but is an impressive looking ride nonetheless. The model is actually one that anyone could buy and build, if you know of a source of Faller fairground models (look up Guagemaster...). I used to have a few of those myself - they're very cool. If you build them carefully, they can be powered and run (some more successfully than others). For anyone that likes rides, they' make for an interesting project.

Andy I would recommend going to Creswell crags in Derbyshire! It is really cheap to get in

Believe it or not before you even mentioned the smell I thought 'I bet it smells old in there', like a similar smell you find in a lot of museums. It was practically oozing from the screen. 😄 The caves and the penny arcade look cool though. If it was more local to me it would be worthy of a visit.

It does have a weird smell that place, has done for years. If you've got kids and do the show, soft play and golf you can stretch it to a full day out, almost. That cafe place halfway through has always looked distinctly unappealing to me too. Strange place.

I treat Wookey Hole with the same regard as Warwick Castle: little attractions added to the historical element, in order to justify the hefty price tag. For anyone who just wants a good cave and nothing more, then check out Poole's Cavern in Buxton, Derbyshire; for half the price too. Or for something slightly different, Dudley Tunnels, next to The Black Country Museum.
