The perfect solution to a hassle-free underquilt set up. Amazing work Brandon. I'll be saving up for one of these to go with my XLC as soon as possible. :)

Brandon you've done it again I have an XLC with a different brand of under quilt that requires lots of fiddle factor and triangle thingies to make it work ! Love the simplicity of this design and the fact that it's a perfect match. I will have to check with Santa Clause to see if I can get one. FYI 3 years with my XLC and still loving it

It's about time someone figured out how to keep an underquilt in place of on one of these! I sold my blackbird because I couldn't unzip the side And adjust my quilt, I kept waking up cold only to find my quilt was out of place due to turning over. I went with a T-bird from dream hammock and it's SO much better and with the quilt hooks my underquilt doesn't move and if it does I can unzip both sides and fix it..

Had one for years. Use it frequently. Had to look up this video to double check the correct placement for this underquilt. Chilly feet is no joke

Just a couple questions: 1. I imagine you could use that to hold a pad in place for even colder weather just like a like a double layer hammock? 2. How would you loosen that design for warmer weather?
@warbonnetoutdoors211
@warbonnetoutdoors211 7 жыл бұрын
No, it's not going to apply enough force to keep a pad from buckleing, My guess is you'd get colder if you put a pad between the UQ and the hammock. If you need to use both, then put the pad inside the hammock rather betweer the UQ and hammock body you could add a short piece of cord to lengthen the UQ suspension by 2-3 inches making it hang slightly loose and reducing it's efficiency for warmer weather

That's an awesome looking quilt Brandon! Never any need for adjustment of side lines? Also are you considering any add ons like overstuff or higher grade down?
@warbonnetoutdoors211
@warbonnetoutdoors211 8 жыл бұрын
The side lines are for the BB/XLC and have nothing to do with the quilt, the quilt works just as well on our Traveler and Traveler XL models which do not have elastic sidelines. 850 fill is more expensive but not noticeably any better than 800, 900 fill is unreliable from an availability standpoint and very often not available at all.

I love how at the end he simply says "no adjustment necessary" - if this was not Brandon and throwing his rep behind that it would sound like a bad sales pitch. Anyway - I would add that if you use this in warmer temps it will require adjustment - here in Alabama - I've found we go to sleep and it's 40-55 then temp drops to say 30-40. Just using an example of my limited experience. Probably venting the top quilt as needed at first will work but may need to come up with a way to vent this perhaps - possibly at times "adjustment necessary" :) I'm gonna buy one of these it seems!

Hey fellas. Looks great as always. Why the rubber band?
@kbwaddy
@kbwaddy 8 жыл бұрын
To provide the correct tension...different models of hammock with different weight users will stretch different amounts and the quilt has to work well within the full range of all that without ever getting overly tight as to cause damage to the quilt.

Brandon If I order the Wookie and the extra down from your site can you put the down in the UQ? I'd like 2 oz overstuff in the 4 season if possible.

Yes, definately. I'd say 2oz in the winter version is a good choice also

Hey Brandon. I just ordered the new XLC and was wondering if the Wookie has a Head and Foot end or if its the same width at both ends. I'm wondering because if i decide to switch Lay directions, if the underquilt coverage is going to change or not.
@warbonnetoutdoors211
@warbonnetoutdoors211 6 жыл бұрын
The Wooki is completely different at foot vs head ends, however If you flipped it inside out you would technically have a reverse lay Wooki, except instead of the insulation hanging nice and fluffy and thick under the quilt, the insulation would be flattened between the quilt and the hammock. So if you flipped a 20 deg Wooki inside out you'd have the equivalent of a 50 deg reverse lay Wooki. So the best option for those that don't know if they need to buy a standard or reverse lay is to just order the hammock first, decide what you prefer, and then we can do either. However the standard lay is what we focus on keeping stocked, we can do a custom reverse lay for 25$ extra. Keep in mind that many users who don't already have a preference for one way over another (from prior hammocking) will find laying on either diagonal to feel just as strange in the beginning, and after several sessions either position they choose begins to feel normal... so most people will be able to go with a standard lay. I would say that if you feel comfortable sleeping the standard way, then you won't want to switch, very few people end up switching after they get used to one diagonal. If you have access to a sleeping pad you could try sleeping reversed for a few nights and deciding before committing to the Wooki

Why not just go one step further and make a hammock with an integrated under quilt?
@warbonnetoutdoors211
@warbonnetoutdoors211 7 жыл бұрын
Because being able to remove insulation in summer or being able to use mid-weight insulation in spring, summer, fall or being able to use warmer insulation in winter are better than being stuck with one weight of insulation that you can't remove that may or may not be appropriate for the time of year or climate you are using it in. Just like you have several different weights of jackets that you put on or take off to remain comfortable as conditions and seasons change.

Warbonnet Outdoors I always adjust my temp by my top quilt. I don't change my mattress just my blanket on top. at least that is my thought process.
@warbonnetoutdoors211
@warbonnetoutdoors211 7 жыл бұрын
Yes and this works best, however alot of people might not want to carry 0deg permanently attached insulation in warmer weather because of the extra weight and especially bulk, it's more convenient to leave the winter underquilt at home and take a lighter less bulky 3 season underquilt instead. Or remove it entirely for a really hot summer night

Also, I will add, if you have an under quilt permanently attached and it gets damaged to the point it can't be repaired, you basically lose your hammock and under quilt.

Does it bother anyone else that Warbonnet has a logo of a Native American with a Native American head dress and it's owned by a white man? I bought an underquilt from this company and when I saw the logo I had to send it back and they charged me a 20% restocking fee but I could not stomach the cultural appropriation by this company.

How do you know that he doesn't have Native American heritage? You visit any Native American tribe today in the United States and you will find members of those tribes who look just like this guy.
