Nice Wade. I love wearing gators in winter. They add another layer of warmth. I have a pair that are 15 years old now - excellent ones I might add but getting worn. Maybe time to start thinking about replacing them. Nice to see you and River out on the trails again.

Great review, Wade. Those a definitely high quality gaiters. Surprising no other wool company has looked at the gaiter design this way.

I agree the design is an interesting choice. Not sure if it’s for aesthetics or if it’s purpose driven but it does work very well from my experiences. Thanks for stopping by👊

The canvas would probably trap moisture in, if it were on the outside. I thought about the same thing, since canvas on the outside would provide more protection against brambles and so forth. I guess that the key priority in winter is staying warm and dry, however, so if the wool layer gets a little scratched up over time, that is an acceptable tradeoff. I stepped into the edge of a stream this morning, when I misjudged how solid the snow and ice were on the bank. Got some cold water in the boot. Was just a short ramble with the dogs, so wasn't on my A game, but gaiters like these probably would have kept most/all of the water out, for the one second that I was in the water.

I really do need to get some good gaiters. Love my loden green anorak. The spacious pocket is good for my dog. She's about an eight pound Chihuahua.

Nice vid! Im definitely getting the bma gaiters when i can. I got he Rough anorak a couple months ago and its my new favorite piece of clothing for cold weather. Im thinking about getting one of the canvas anoraks in the future, i remember the windrak from your "5 bushcraft knots" video but i would love to see a video on it. I was thinking about that myself but I think it’s because the wool is silent,canvas might make a bit more noise rubbing together. I’ve not had any issues with moisture on the wool.

Those gaiters are awesome looking buddy. I like the velcro instead of a zipper, and wool is so much warmer than synthetic. Cheers brother!🍻

I have a pair of Goretex gaiters. I really don’t like rubber boots unless I have to, but a good short boot & a pair of gaiters work great with a poncho. 🔥🇨🇦

I own the same Anorak and it's bomb proof. I'm really hoping to find someone to add zippers in the pits and up the sides though. I think having pockets added to the sleeves would also be super nice (like tactical jackets have). Eventually I'm going to order one of their ponchos because they look super heavy duty.

I can tell you're completely satisfied, and nothing succeeds like success, but I admit to being very puzzled. I'm guessing that the water-resistant canvas used in these products breathes LESS well than wool and surely is more likely to fulfill the warning that cotton kills. It would seem logical to me that the wool should be on the inside, closest to the source of heat and sweat, and the canvas on the outside, where it can shed rain and snow, and be waxed, if need be. [I can't see waxing wool.] In defense of the design, I do admit that putting the wool inside would put the noisier fabric outside, but which goal takes priority? I'd surely like to have BMA explain their approach, as it seems counter-intuitive to me.

For what temperatures is it for? Is it good for spring evening where it is 10-20C?

Yes , with proper layering I have had it down to those temps. In wind it is much better with a shell to block the wind. 👍

Not inexpensive for sure but they are Made in Canada by craftsman paid a decent wage. I don’t mind supporting that by paying a bit extra. Thanks for watching the video and commenting👍

These seem inside out to me…. Like a rain jacket underneath your insulating layer….. 🤔 can someone educate me on why the wool on the outside of the canvas is better or makes sense here? I’m cornfuzzed😅

I like that you evaluate products in real world situations; "These extra big pockets in the anorak are perfect for dog treats." on the anorak i normally a large in everything. what size would reccomend? dont want it to be overly big. thanks great video ill be getting those exact gaiters too!

A large would probably fit if that is your normal size. I would suggest using the sizing chart on the BMA website. You can also call them and they will guide you through the sizing process. You will love their stuff!
