What is Submachine?
Submachine is a new plugin by Creative Workflow Solutions for Premiere Pro that lets you create fast word by word, karaoke style, animation subtitles or captions for your social videos. It's a game changer and something you all have been asking for, for a long time! It works by converting your .srt captions into timed motion graphics templates. Super simple to follow along with these instructions. After making a few videos with this, I'm pretty much a convert :D Thank you for sharing and also the After Effects tip is a huge time saver as well. I made one video first with SubMachine and only edited the fonts and colors in Premiere, but after many attempts to fix word splitting and having to re-sync my styles, I decided on the 2nd video to try the AE tip from your video and it was easy to implement, should have done it from the start!

So happy you made this video. A day before you posted this I combed through your videos looking for exactly this. So far everything went smoothly except i get an error message when I hit create that the sequence frame rate and mogrt framerate don't match and they do and I even tried them all so I emailed customer support and am waiting for response. I will be very happy if this works!

I had 29.99fps sequence. Didn't even know that was an option. So i changed it to 29.97 and all the 29.97 mogrt's work now!

Hey Frank! Since Pr didn't built it native, someone had to. I did tell them there needs to be animation presets in Pr for social video. Capcut has it inside, as well as Descript and other social apps. Premiere Pro is a Pro editor, however, it takes longer for them to code in these new things. But we will see. I'm impressed with how CWS made submachine and happy to support them :)

This plugin looks great; however, my concern would be: after you make the investment, will Adobe just add this as a feature? This has happened several times now. Thanks for putting this video together. Been hooked on your channel for a couple of months - really good info here! I'm not exactly a black belt in premiere like you are, so forgive me for this white-belt question: Whats the difference between this plugin vs just highlighting your caption > graphics and titles > Upgrade Caption to Graphic? Can't you then just send to AE and stylize your mogrt there? Thanks in advance!

Upgrade Caption to Graphic wont add the animation, you'd have to animate the box manually word by word which will take, lets say, a long time 😊. Submachine's mogrts have the animation built into each one.

EDIT: Tried it for 1 hr.. It sucks. Slow. Hard to use. Not wel developed (couldn't find a cancel button, to cancel certain tasks) Maybe its me, but CapCut seems way easier.

I shoot with a Canon EOS R with a 35mm f1.8 wide angle lens. I use a Comica Vimo-C Clip-on Lav Mic (amzn.to/3ZWxJwk) and Rode NT USB Mini as a backup on my desk. After I'm done editing, I upscale my videos 4k using Topaz Video Ai (topazlabs.com/ref/1689/) The reason I don't shoot native in 4k is because I share my edits over Dropbox with a Team of editors and 4k is slower at uploading and takes up 2x the amount of space, when you shoot a lot of video it gets eaten up fast.

actually for the first time i found a tool has been discussed whose functioning is quite outdated with huge price tag. there are much better and time saving options available like 'veed' for lesser price with much more options and ease to use.

Love the fact that these dynamic captions can be automated by this plugin, but I’m noticing there are 1-frame gaps between some of your subtitles. Is this a settings issue, or just a bug?

It is based on the timing of the srt file, so you can leave them or roll the length of the generated mogrts in your timeline

right - but is there a way to do this with IMPORTED captions. it seems you can change the preferences on a NEW caption track - but not if you have to change an existing track. Premiere's transcription still sucks - and I have to edit extensively - whereas with my external captions - that's great - but I want to use submachine - but can't find the place to change what I upload -

However, I couldn't find the individual word style anymore and that's the one I wanted. Do you know if it is still there now but maybe is called differently now? There is no more "individual word" style ;(

I have been racking my brain trying to figure out why SubMachine wont show up in my Adobe Premier extensions? I have SEARCHED and SEARCHED and cant seem to find a single video that shows how to properly install extensions on Adobe Premier Pro. There are a lot of videos about SubMachine and cool stuff you can do but ZERO videos on how to properly set it up and get it to show up in Adobe Premier - Window - Extensions. Aton of videos on how to get extensions from Adobe Creative Cloud but ZERO videos on how to get SubMachine properly installed on Mac. Can you please help us Premier Gal - pa pa pa please

Yes, I've done a video earlier about animation one color on top of each other. it would require you to create a shape and manually create and set keyframes word by word. The plugin only saves time.

Been having this issue for over sometime now in premiere. Whenever I open an extension/plugin in premiere, it opens up in a huge separate panel instead of opening a small tab under the Edit tab, where you've: effects, library etc..... This is so annoying as this separate panel covers almost half of my timeline. Any fix?

That's likely to happen the first time. After that you can save layouts and workspaces which should then cause the projects to open with the last save workspace layout. If not you can then just select the correct workspace to return to the desired workspace layout.

What kind of hardware do you use? I can´t even smoothly playback a single piece of video in my timeline - and that´s with proxy on, 32GB RAM and a Nvidia 3070 (I know, not the best stuff...but i should be able to at least preview a clip...or add a lower third without waiting a minute?!). How do you edit so smoothly...I can´t even place a lower third from a YT Pack and move it smoothly with the XYZ sliders...wth 😞

This could be to do with the sequence settings, the video content itself or a number of other variables. Generally transcoding to a pro res format will drastically help playback especially if you're currently in a highly compressed h264 codec.

This doesn't work on Mac.. The second you try to render the sequence it shuts premiere off. I've tried several times, incliuding today with the updated download. Same result.
