Friends, our first reading for this weekend is from the twentieth chapter of Jeremiah. There is so much spiritual wisdom in Jeremiah, but more than any of the other prophets, we come to know his personality and his life. And in this passage, all the texture of being a prophet is on display: both the terror on every side and a fire burning in the heart-both the opposition of those who refuse to hear the Word and the irresistible desire to announce it.

Dear Bishop Barron, please don’t ever give up on preaching.... I can imagine how you must be tempted to withdraw because of all the criticism and negativity, but you’re doing so much good by preaching the word of God and we thank you for that.... and.God bless you!

Hard to say how grateful I am to find the Catholic Faith even in this evening hour of my life. I am likely at least twice the age of the others in my RCIA class. A protestant all my life and lover of Jesus- I feel as though I have come home. It is so deeply personal it is difficult to share. Thank you for all of the work and all of these messages on WOF! Beyond grateful...

As a child of divorce, I was in deep pain not being able to reconcile the fact that since my mom and dad hated each other, they must hate part of me too, since I am half of one and half of the other. It was when I was in front of the Blessed Sacrament when Our Lord told me "They did not create you, I DID. You are my beloved daughter, what happened with them does not concern my love for you. You are MY beloved and precious child." That took away so much pain, it was awesome! Children of divorce, don't despair. God created you, your parents were only physical, human vessels in His creative plan for us. He loves us deeply, and will never forsake us nor abandon us. Peace be with you.

Also, if you can go before the blessed sacrament in adoration the prayers are more powerful! Also sacred heart novena. Padre Pio said that every day. God bless your son and may he be healed of all affliction for the glory of Jesus Christ. ❤

Agree, though I respectfully offer another way to think about it: we need more priests who are not afraid to CHALLENGE WE WHO ALREADY BELIEVE to bring more people to Christ. For as Bishop Barron said, we are ALL "priest, PROPHET, and king." We cannot expect the ordained to do it all. We lay people have to do our part, too, and thereby multiply our combined efforts with the ordained as the entire body of Christ at work in the world today. We ALL have to be willing to be a bit of a Jeremiah wherever God has placed us.

This is confirmation of what to expect when you teach the truth, the Word of God. My family questions my sanity when I tell them that I pray, fast, and attend daily mass. My routine is suspect. Am I overly religious? I often question my own motives. Do I just want to get to heaven? Yes and I will do whatever it takes.

A smile, a chuckle in admiration. Bishop Barron walks the walk, not just the talk. I have viewed him in videos debating athiests. No reverence when he does. What he sermonzied on Jermiah today, Bishop Barron himself has practiced. In a world which does not want to even hear about religion. One third of all Americans surveyed claim, "No religion." Consequences obvious. Thank you, as always, Bishop Barron. I listen every week. Blessings, and stay well.

Thank you Bishop Barron for your explanation of the first reading, because very often we get to hear the reflection of the Sunday homily to be about the Gospel reading. Your explanation about the prophet Jeremiah, made him jump out of the Bible, because as you said, our culture does not accept the truth of Gods Word in this day and age! Thanks once again and may God bless you and all the other successors of the apostles who are committed to their mission of preaching the Word of God, despite persecution and ridicule. In my prayers 🙏

Jeremiah didn't live in the space of success, he didn't find joyful success in the work he was doing, instead he found derision, mockery and rejection. But having said all that, with the terror on every side of his life, he realised that if he did not follow the voice of God within, it then became like an unbeaable fire burning in the heart, that could not be resisted. Likewise, we are all a priest , a king and a prophet within and at times we must express that and act on it..

I want to give up but even though it’s hard I keep faith because I trust in God. It is he’s will. I keep faith even as I struggle to take care of my children. The past two years have been hard on me. I’m a single mom. I suffered an heart attack and I’m battling lupus. Both of my sons are autistic and to be honest Heavenly Father I’m so overwhelmed. I’m constantly struggling to buy groceries and struggling to pay my rent and now that I’m home schooling my sons I’m struggling to buy their school supplies. I want to give up. But even in hard times I know I must choose to have faith. No matter our struggle, we can turn to God. He knows us personally and can give us strength to overcome our challenges. I Trust in YOU LORD PLEASE HEAR MY PRAYERS!

You seem to be doing just fine, you’ve got 5K subscribers and all your information in your bio for Pay Pal, and apparently posting these pious prayers in the comment sections of religious videos rakes in enough paying subscribers so that you’ve got a load of impersonators. Please don’t make our Father’s house a den of thieves whilst disguising it as a house of prayer. There will be a consequence. Even if your need is genuine, this manipulation is not the way to get it met. Talk to your pastor in private.

Our priest did not mention it inhis homily. It is one rough passage for me to proclaim. But now through Bishop Barron preaching on it, I have a renewed respect and understanding of Jeremiah. Indeed it is analagous to life today among disdainers and non believers.

Keep going, Bishop Barron! "Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints . ." as St. Paul says ( Romans.12:11-13a)

Blessings to you Bishop Barron 🙏 “And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭2‬:‭3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

That is so true many years ago I started craving Lord, the more I knew the more I Loved him the more I couldn’t stop talking about him the more I crave him even to this day and I can’t get enough of him and I can’t say enough about him.

I felt your sermon so deeply. It has been a personal struggle for me to share the Word Of God, even in my own family. We are eight brothers and sisters raised as Catholics but the Bible is only accepted by half of us. Opposition is respectful, from our non religious family members but they say we are deluded, misguided, naive, we are close-minded, they wonder how we can believe when the church has been in so many scandals. It is frustrating and chilling. You give me courage to press forward not just to lead by example, but feel free and convicted to share the hopeful message of God. Thank you Bishop Barron we are blessed to have you in our lives and our Church at this time.

So so amazing. This sermon describes what it is to be a Christian/Catholic. We all must evangelize. I may not be a profit of God, but I am His voice here on earth. And yes, there is derision and even hate when we present Our Lord to the world. Our world may be small, just a few contemporaries, that does not excuse us from speaking the Word of the Lord. We are called to read and study the Word and to then present the truth to nonbelievers. Thank you, Bishop .

So true. We all have to be willing to be a Jeremiah wherever God has placed us.
