I totally agree and have done this many times. However each time i have relapsed I've learned so much on the way..now im discovering the healing process of why i self sabotage with many external things that harm me and my health when im succeeding and im trusting this is the breakthrough i need. Cold turkey always works for me.

I'm there now, feel like I've sucked on a exhaust pipe. I hate being weak, hate smelling saturated with layers of stale and fresh disgusting smoke. And I KNOW that there's no better morale booster than saying, wow Im actually an ex smoker. Or cringing that I used to do that, all day... no high, no deliciousness nothing. And the cravings, the sleepless nights the irritability, depression boredom restless legs... BRING IT ON!! like a no good mofo pretending to be my friend. mxm

@@CECS1 it always works if you really want it to obviously for those who have failed many many times like myself who did not want to be a non smoker bad enough and i can guarantee when we started to smoke again we knew what we were doing and we knew we didnt really want this cigarette but we gave in knowing we still held the power not to smoke it but DECIDED we would. So when you decide to quit and STICK to it you WILL SUCCEED.

Started at age 16. I am 57 now. I have only quite twice in my life. Once in 1999 for 8 months, and once in 2007 for 9 months. My profession is highly stressful and that has been my crutch for years. This year, my body finally said ,enough already. I need to quite. Hell or high water.

I smoked from 14 to 35 years old, in the last years I smoked an average of 30 cigarettes a day (1 pack and a half). I gave my life to Jesus, and I felt the need not to smoke or consume alcohol anymore, with the alcoholic drink it was overnight, I threw away what I had of beer and cachaça at home... ! I agreed with my wife to try to smoke the least amount of cigarettes I could in one day so with a lot of effort on my part I smoked 12 cigarettes, for one week she gave me 12 cigarettes every day for me to consume, the other week it was 11 cigarettes a day day, the other 10... and each week it decreased by 1 per day. everything was going well, until it reached 4 cigarettes... I started stealing cigarettes from her, and ended up smoking 7, 8 cigarettes a day. until one day that during a prayer I was sincere to God, and said that I couldn't stop smoking and that I didn't really have the strength and that I really wanted to and asked God to help me and take the pleasure of smoking from me... One day inside the church during a preaching that a pastor was doing, I heard a voice speaking in my ear clearly; - "So far I've let you try, to show that you're not capable. From today you don't smoke because I don't want to! I was so scared that when my wife told me what I had heard, she saw in me a frightened and admired person, who started to cry because she saw that I was not delirious. Upon leaving the church my car had been broken into and my documents and my wife's documents had been stolen, along with the vehicle's sound. But I knew that if I got over that nervousness and anger I felt at seeing my car like that I wouldn't smoke anymore (it was like a test to confirm my convictions in the voice I heard). I called my wife and we went home , I took everything I had connected to tobacco ( tobacco , paper , lighter , matches , cigarette pack ....) I put it on a piece of paper and rolled it up we went to the street, and on a sidewalk I threw alcohol and I prayed to God; - Lord, trusting the voice I heard today I know that I will no longer feel like smoking, in Jesus name I set fire to all these elements linked to cigarettes! And by the honor and glory of God I was freed, in the name of Jesus! Vinicius Cruz. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rtiBdJh73Z-2Y40.html&ab_channel=Vin%C3%ADciusCruz

The triggers are crazy. I am going on my 4th day and last night I had my trigger when I got off work. It was very interesting how my present brain was fighting my lizard brain when the urge hit. I made it through, but will most certainly have a hard trigger today. I just need to remember that my lizard brain is playing tricks on me and wants me to take the easy path which is to buy another pack. I have smoked for 35 years and it is time to quit. Sorry, I'm rambling.

@@zacharyparkert8620 Well, after that post I did start smoking again, but then quit for good on June 1, 2022. It took a health scare, which turned out to be nothing, to make me quit. I screwed up one time about 2 months ago and quickly regretted it. I only smoked 4 cigarettes and then threw the pack out. It burned my throat, and the guilt was unbearable. I still have cravings, but it is now much easier to push them away. Stay strong my friend and if you ever need help get in touch as I always check the comments.

The best way to stop smoking is to simple face up to the facts. Which are, we don't smoke because we want to, we do it because we are to weak minded and pathetic to stop, (we also stink). So let's get a grip, grow up, and take responsibility. Two weeks cold turkey, feeling uncomfortable, but I'll get over it. (For primary responsibility click profile).

There is far more to the addiction than just nicotine. There are all kings of chemicals also, whether mixed with the tobacco, the filters, or oven the glue on the paper. For me, (am back on them). The nicotine is the least of them. Saying that, ppl do stop. While the rest of us junkies look for pathetic excuses to carry on. Sad, but true.
