As the American wealth gap continues to widen, Jon Wertheim has, for the last year, been looking at an unlikely effort to get more money in the hands of rank-and-file workers. Sunday.
"60 Minutes" is the most successful television broadcast in history. Offering hard-hitting investigative reports, interviews, feature segments and profiles of people in the news, the broadcast began in 1968 and is still a hit, over 50 seasons later, regularly making Nielsen's Top 10.

Maybe stop destroying small businesses for one. COVID was great for Wall St and Corporations, but a dagger in the heart for a lot of small businesses. We need fewer corporations and fewer equity firms buying up all of Big Corporates competition and then sending jobs overseas.

Right now we're benifitting from the "new market" to exploit being us, here. The obviously inevitable supply chain issues of Just in Time manufacturing/inventories plus globalization nearly collopsed the entire system once stressed by one pandemic plus the usually expectable stuff. But since it's the CEO and VP seeing it now they realize they need to "outsource" to down the road instead of overseas as its still cheaper in the end than not being able to ship anything at all...

Stop private equity buying up businesses & make them turn into employee owned. Been saying this for years, made a video about it.

I'm 100% certain you can't explain to me what private equity is or why private equity buying a company is worse than one of its competitors buying said company. The rapacious greed & unethical business practices in private equity were largely the result of low interest rates. Furthermore, had the US government not made it so unbelievably costly & the regulatory burdens so onerous on raising capital by going public, a much smaller # of companies would have been interested in selling to PE firms.

Spot on. The "owner employees" find out when it's too late. I, too, worked at one of these places. They promise the sky and deliver the vacuum of space.

Align employee incentives with corporate goals? What madness is this?
@rockets4kids
@rockets4kids 12 күн бұрын
There is a method to this madness: The people running the companies pay their employees in stock, while at the same time extracting all value from the company. The employees are then left with worthless stock. It's a fantastic way of incentivizing people to work hard, while screwing them at the same time.

There’s a middle ground. It takes capital to start companies and there are major risks when they fail, so investors deserve a good cut. But, incentivizing (good) employees to give up a meaningful portion of their lives for the good of that company deserves to be rewarded substantially too. The tricky part is that companies falter at times. Are employees willing to sacrifice for the good of the company in lean times or just let it burn to the ground and walk away?

That's what i'm worried about. I am pretty positive if employees were around year one where I lost 171k / my wife and I's life savings, they would not have seen the future and bailed haha. It's hard to make these decisions. I don't trust others to make the big calls, but I wan't them to make more money. Trying to find the best way (besides paying more i know. they are).

God loves you and takes care of you so that this message reaches you. God is the one who created this great universe and has complete control over it. And the greatest loss that a person loses in this life is that he lives while he does not know God who created him, knowing the Messenger of Muhammad, the last of the messengers, and the Islamic religion, the last of the heavenly religions. The great intelligence, before you believe in something or not, is to read it, study it, and understand it well, and then you have the choice to believe in it or not. I advise you on this now before you do not have time to do that.
