In this video, I'll share with you what a typical work week is for me. I like keeping myself really busy (what a masochist right?) so outside of my day job as a data scientist at a tech company, I also volunteer at a non-profit, help teach a data science class, and obviously create content for KZfaq. Because of proprietary reasons, I can't share the specifics of what I do at my day job but I hope this video will give you all a bit more insight into my day-to-day. This video is long overdue but I hope you enjoy!

I'm a freshman majoring in computer science and having a concentration in data analysis. I start my first data science job soon this summer as well as doing a lot of side jobs. This really helped me see what it is like and that helped me so much not to be so stressed and scared over it.

@@Memeboo96 ik i'm not the person you asked but i got my first data science internship after doing personal projects (majoring in statistics, so i had to put in extra work to make it through all the filtering lol). once i had projects that were relevant, a huge step was tailoring my resume and making sure i knew my projects well enough to discuss them in interviews, and being able to explain how the methods/thinking could be applied towards the opportunities i was applying for.

You’re such an inspiration to me. I’ve being feeling stressed and down because of my work schedule (8 am - 6:40 pm) but watching you do that much work and being productive for so many hours, have give me strength to believe that I’m able to do it us well . Please keep doing what you do. I’m binge watching your videos and I love how you try to balance different interests with your work live . I am also working as a data scientist and i know how tough is it to keep learning everyday. And i would say it is a challenging job cuz it really requires communication skills and great problem solving skills. Keep it up!

I really respect and admire your side hustles and hobbies!! Love that you strive to keep yourself busy and productive 😤 I'm currently enrolled in a data science bootcamp (just about to enter week 3!) and the complex stats and modeling concepts, and many MANY different python packages are intense 😫 stats was just introduced to us and i haven't taken stats for YEARS. overall, i'm looking forward to the rest of the weeks though and I'm glad I stumbled upon this video to give me a glimpse into what i might expect! 🤗

Honestly, your videos are very inspired to work hard and seem like you make the most of the time of the day. It makes me work harder and feel great being a hard worker. I really loved this!!! Honestly it feels weirdly…doable…even though you’re so busy and taking a lot on! It seems like you have really great balance! I’m currently finishing up applications to go back for a Master’s in DS after working in a sort of technical (but also not) consulting/contracting space for about 2.5 ish years now out of college, and watching this really made me feel like it’s doable even though I have such terrible imposter syndrome 😭 thank you!!

I did like your habits and by you, I started to understand that learning by being the unsatisfied mind is great. Ahh I’m glad to hear 💗 I don’t have the longest attention span so I usually set up 30 minute work intervals to check off tasks and have 5 min breaks in between!

Thanks for sharing. I enjoy watching other professionals day to see if I can incorporate any new skill sets. A few things I would like to offer if you haven’t looked into them already or perhaps you just didn’t mention in your vid but are already doing. 1. Change into business casual clothes. This helps change your mindset and tells your brain you’re going into work mode. You want to train your brain to partition when its work and leisure. 2. Incorporate meditation early mornings and if possible before bed. 3. Take vitamin nutrient rich breakfast, high in dha. 4. Turn off cells phones during personal time and not just off but stow them away. 5. If you’re not using backgrounds for webex or teams, declutter your background view so its not a distraction to teammates. I practice mindfulness and productivity and in cloud tech myself. Hopefully these few tips help. I also have the same “J” mug :) ~ James

You seem to love exploring new things. Doing your job, teaching and running a non-profit. Also, learning English new vocabulary and learning Chinese. @@lavanyathakre6543 Check the prerequisite and your ambitions. If you have an interest in working with biological data and apply statistical techniques through a computer algorithm, Bioinformatics is a good choice to be Jack of all trades
