You might try dripping some acetone between the macropad and the desk. That should dissolve enough of the superglue to rip the thing off without destroying the desk.

and maybe using some dental floss between macropad and desk to not damage it
@klaernie
@klaernie 11 ай бұрын
From my experience, super glue doesn't like shear forces and percussive loads. I would lightly tap with a hammer repeatedly on one corner, and sooner or later it will drop off. Than one can be much more gentle, trying to remove the glue stuck to the edge of the desk. I'd be wary of acetone, since the edges of desks are sometimes made from plastic, which would easily be damaged. Also the macro pad back looks like acrylic, which would dissolve. What might work, although be very careful since the fumes are toxic, is heating the superglue with a blowtorch (after getting the pad off). Brief strokes should be enough to vaporize the superglue, while not heating the desk itself.

or spray some WD40 on the glue of the macropad, let is sit for a couple of minutes before trying to remove it like just like the other posters here recommend like using dental floss or slightly tapping it . . . .

I found using the ShurePlus software to set my MV7 to "Far" preset helped a lot with general use, so I don't have to shove it in my face. It's definitely still on the quieter side though, so I am glad to hear getting a proper interface eventually will help! At the time it really was the only viable dual-mode option but I imagine that's going to keep changing.

I wasn't sure about the form factor of my 60% keyboard when I was buying one, but it really grew on me. I have configured it in a way, that my Caps Lock is basically a special modifier that transforms my i, j, k and l keys to arrow keys. So basically it is faster for me to move around a document than with my 100% keyboard now. It's funny, because now when I use my 100% keyboards I use the special modifier and never use the arrow keys. Same goes for F keys and Home keys. In the end it's a 60% keyboard at home for gaming and a 100% keyboard at work, because I do a lot of number crunching so a numpad section is a must.

I just moved to 60% from TKL and did something similar with the arrow keys and some other tweaks through VIA/VIAL. Holding tab works as a function key and I can copy/paste/use arrows/page up/page down/select all etc right from the standard home row. I started with those efficiencies on the TKL and eventually realized a lot of keys were wasted movement.

Thanks for being open and sharing. While I've really enjoyed your other videos, I actually found this video to be more useful because it gave great insight behind why a product might not work for an office workspace and the though process that someone should think through before buying a new gadget. For the micropad glued to your desk, you won't be able to take it off without damaging your desk if you pull straight out. However, if you rotate the micropad in a perpendicular direction (clockwise/counterclockwise) it should hopefully be able to come off. That's because super glue, while very strong when dealing with direct forces, is relatively weak against shear forces. Hat Tip to Adam Savage of Mythbusters/Tested fame for that useful gem.

Style wise and functionality wise I much prefer my TKL/75% keyboard, but using the function key to turn WASD into arrow keys and the num row into F-keys was useful (still don't know how to do F11-12 though). I did ultimately sell my 60% though, because the multiline editing keystroke in Visual Studio was impossible to press (I think its something like control+shift+down/up, so add in function key and make you do all that with one hand + layers messing up shift and control... literally impossible)

I am using a 66 key keyboard and I am absolutely loving it. I had a 100% keyboard before, but I disliked having the keypad as I like my keyboard to be in the centre, and I can't program with the main keys being off centre. Great balance of being tiny and having all the necessary keys (I dont often need F keys, but the arrow keys are absolutely necessary). Also I feel like having F keys on the same row as number keys, just with the Fn key held down is much more comfortable, as everything is very close by and I don't have to reach further to press an F key (or esc). btw on my keyboard F11 and F12 are the -+ keys, maybe yours had the same thing.

As someone who just went from a TKL to a 60% i have these 2 things to point out. 1 yes its massivly more convinient if you use your desk for other stuff like studying/fixing stuff/exc 2 most 60% even the after market ones have F keys and arrows keys inbedeed in some kind of key combo you press like Fn wasd for arrows exc , in simple words if you have your pc as an entertainment device and you just do the odd typing and emailing here and there then yes 60% is all you need.If you do any serious work on a computer then TKL is your best bet if you need the space In my case i got a 60% as a secondary keyboard in case my good one breaks or smth cause it was on sale for like 50 euro/dollars , ended up modding it for fun and over the time just used it more and more , although i dont work from home i generally bring equipment from work back at my house to fix it so having the extra space helps(yes they got an 18 year old fixing expensive filming equipment in his house , they pay good extra thought).

The Shure MV7 microphone is based off the SM7b, which is famously hard to drive because its a dynamic, among other reasons. When you compare it to the price of the MV7x, you get a general idea to the cost of the components within the MV7, which obviously aren't going to stack up against even a cheaper interface such as a Scarlet. And with all that technology bundled into a tiny package, its no surprise there would be a bit of electrical noise (this is an issue the AT2005 suffers from as well, despite been a very nice microphone). The entire existence of the MV7 strikes me as odd, especially since Shure dropped the MV7x not long after. I'm not opposed to the concept of a hybrid microphone, but the Shure, it just sticks out. But I suppose they are wanting to target the more amature/casual audience, considering they just released their new X2U audio interface

I was getting close to picking up the quick keys after seeing your video on it but after using my zsa moonlander for a few weeks and customising the keys so double tapping or holding certain keys gives me access to my most frequently used shortcuts, the quick keys started feeling redundant. The moonlander doesn't have a screen or a knob, and it took a bit of time to get used to the columnar layout with the thumb clusters, but unlike a 60% it preserves all the useful keys and the fact that a relative novice like me can customise the layout so easily makes it very powerful indeed. Not to mention that the rgb lighting, often a gimmick on fancy keyboards, acts as a useful visual aid for reminding me where my favourite functions are. The 8bitdo micro is also something I've had my eye on - it's primarily marketed as a gaming controller but could have great potential as a highly portable budget macro pad.

I love a 60%.. the keys are the same spacing on a lot of them as a normal keyboard, but I have moved to a 65% (and you may prefer a 68%) if you need dedicated arrow keys... Still just as clean, BUT with dedicated arrows are awesome. I also prefer my rk61, because with the FN there right in the corner, I have the standard layout for the arrow keys right next to it and it's freaking second natore to rest the pinky on the FN key..

Honestly, I feel like the main issue with that 60% keyboard is its layout details and function key location. I use a HHKB (which is a 60% size keyboard) and it's layout is great. Arrow keys are very easily and ergonomically accessible via a function layer, and having Control where Caps Lock usually is is great imo.

Superglue is rough. I use command strips for everything lol. I see people leaving good suggestions such as acetone and WD40 along with floss and while im sure those will work I'd suggest purchasing some straight up super glue solvent or remover, you get a bunch and its one of those things that you'll appreciate having and not needing. I'm not sure how itll play with the plastic but I'd assume it'll be fine. I'll throw my unofficial superglue remover in the ring too though: vegetable oil. It doesnt work as well as the other stuff described, but in a pinch it does work.

When you're experimenting try and use Nanotape. They're very cheap (at least where I live), sticks like glue, and removable with no residue. You can experiment all you like. I've stuck things to walls, fans to tables, my racing wheel to the desk (plus clamps), cables to the bottom of my desk, etc. So you don't have to superglue your macropad onto your table anymore. Oh and if you don't use it for lights, you should probably reassign those key buttons to something else more useful. From a guy with a terrible desk, Me

If you need a key light for streaming or video meetings get the Godox ES45. Better than the Elgato, cheaper, and have a physical control that can be removed to function as a remote. You can group multiple lights to the same channel and turn on and adjust your whole setup with just one remote.

100% agree about 60% keebs but noticed something that might help: try moving the wrist wrest a few inches away from the keyboard. I also have big hands, and having a gap there is the only way that works (at least until wrist wrests become deeper than 4” which will never happen because $).

So many regular people got fooled into buying 60% by keyboard nerds 😅 In reality normal people shouldn't go lower than 65%. Buying a 60% is a good cheap way of getting into the scene and simultaneously acquiring a quality keyboard, but in the end it's still an enthusiast keyboard that implies that you're willing to dedicate some time to it. Anyway, if that stuff is not for you - consider yourself lucky: you'll never learn how fun it is to spend the whole weekend hand-lubing switches.

I wonder how much of people’s resistance to 60% and smaller is bad default layers. Based on the stock keycaps shown on their site, the Anne Pro looks like it’s dumping way too much of the function layer on the right pinky. I think the Vortex Pok3r’s layout for the function layer does a much better job of being easy to learn and demonstrating how removing keys from a board leads to making them more readily available (once you swap Caps Lock to be a second Fn).
@hb-robo

Honestly imo it’s the existence of the layers at all. It’s a constant reminder that you are using an incomplete product
@SaveMeAzathoth
@SaveMeAzathoth 10 ай бұрын
@@hb-robo You may as well argue that a 100% keyboard is an incomplete product because you have to use shift/capslock instead of all of those variants having dedicated keys. The correct mindset for embracing 60% and smaller isn’t that layers are compensating for incompleteness, but that they are what create a complete product.
@hb-robo
@hb-robo 10 ай бұрын
@@SaveMeAzathoth That's obviously not comparable, everyone inherently understands that "t" is linked to "T". Nobody on the planet inherently understands that "H" is equal to "/" or whatever. It's complete nonsense and 100% of people learn how to type on full sized keyboards. The idea that this ultra expensive ~minimalist~ product is going to give you massive productivity boosts after you just get the hang of it is a ruse that dumb people use to justify these insanely stupid purchases
