**I no longer work for Evri or have any association with the company **
This is my brief experience working as a self employed UK courier throughout December 2022 -January 2023.
This is a part time job that I took during a one month break from my old job while waiting to start at a new one. So I figured, why not fill that time with a new challenge!
This episode shows the basics of starting as a courier and how your day to day will look if it’s something your thinking of getting involved in.
Hope you enjoy!

See this is why I scan the parcels and then write down the road names I'm off to in a note book with door numbers in order. Then put them into groups and just use the note book to look at what numbers I'm going down the whole of that road. Was the first tip i was given. Means going back to the same road doesn't happen xxx

Hi mate, I’ve just come back from Australia and for some extra income I started Evri/Amazon. Amazon is much better than Evri apart from Sundays as Evri pay £1 a parcel on Sundays. The Evri courier app is woeful, Amazon is much better! And Evri is more stressful as you’ve got so many parcels stuffed in! Hope you’re well!

If I can’t fit them in, I can always carry them forward on to my delivery the next day and leave them at the warehouse, or I can go and deliver maybe 30 and then always come back in an hour and get the rest!

As a evri driver i can say that they are not the best company to work for, but not that much different from the others, from what I hear... Unfortunately as a new driver you are relying on the app 100%, but in order to be quick and efficient you shouldn't use the sat nav as it's useless! As you learn your route with time you will eventually stop using the sat nav which will save you allot of time and fuel as you can create your preferred parcel order. For example when I started it would take me 5 hrs to deliver 100 parcel's, now i can do it in 3hrs. And I'm not one of the fastest out there.... Ideally you want small van so when you load the parcels you can do it easily and you have access to all of them. Big boxes are not a problem anymore. The other thing is allways keep the parcels from one street on one pile, that way you know how much you have for this street and you can easily see if the sat nav is sending you to a different street unnecessarily... Once you get the hang of it it's not too bad.
@Its__Isaac
@Its__Isaac Жыл бұрын
Couldn’t agree more with learning your route without the sat nav! Found that once I’d done the route a few times, you start remembering which street is next to each other and that definitely saved some time and fuel!

I can’t help you abit the break part to the app as I’ve never had to do it sorry! We have the marketplace app and that shows all the rounds available and you can select them on there, but because I do the same rounds in always assigned to the same one! Sorry

@Its__Isaac
@Its__Isaac Жыл бұрын
Yeah I don’t get gas money either, however I rarely do more than 10 miles a day so I don’t really notice as much as others! The APP is a nightmare, once you work the same route a few times it’s easier to try and direct yourself without the app! Glad you learned a few things from it though

@Isaac do you notice your cars excessive wear n tear? What a stress on your cars timing components from so many times a day starting a car obviously no stress on wheel bearings but it isn't as expensive as an engine, starter, battery wears too. Oh drivers door hinges and lock! Dirty interior 🫣

I really do not agree that leaving a parcel on a doorstep constitutes delivery. This has happened to me a few times and twice my parcel has being stolen. Once my neighbour stole my parcel as it was left with him when I was at work. His answer was "it felt like it was something he could do with and he was keeping it so tough!" He was horrible and caused so many problems that I actually left my home of over 20 years. Please reconsider leaving a parcel on the doorstep. It is not secure. I would happily collect fromthe depot or a shop or even pay a £1 (the amount drivers are paid to deliver by their company) to collect from the drivers house when I am available
@Its__Isaac
@Its__Isaac 11 ай бұрын
Apologies, this was mostly for the video! I didn’t want any customers being on camera without their consent etc so most of the time when I put the parcel on the doorstep and walk away etc it was mainly for the video. Once I’d popped it down and after I’d filmed I’d end up going back etc! Thankfully my score when I worked for Evri on the app was very good, and never had a single complaint about ‘not knocking’ Although I do understand your point, but don’t worry, it was the magic of film 😂

Great video, thinking of getting into this myself, as shop work is a joke now (Sainsburys). Just wondering, do you pick how many parcels you deliver or is it just them who decide? Also, that part about sorting parcels out, how does that work when it's pissing down? Also would you do this in a van if you could? And finally (last one I swear) Did you have any sort of interview? Thanks!!
@Its__Isaac
@Its__Isaac Жыл бұрын
So when I started I could ask for a certain number or a round with a certain about. So my usual would be between 60-80 a day. However at Christmas sometimes there would be 110+ and I couldn’t fit them all in my car so I’d take what I can and leave the rest! When it was raining, I’d like to find a little area in the depot and do my sorting in there! Although this meant taking them all out the cage, organising them and then putting them back in the cage to take to the car, and then taking them out again which got annoying! Loads of people do it in a van, you can get much more done in a van and easier to organise! There was no interview which was strange. They asked if I had a driving license and could start 4 days after I signed up haha! Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

@@goldensoul1842 Trust me, get a job delivering for a supermarket or any other company where you are classed as an employee. This self employed delivery work is pure exploitation over the long term. They pay you a wage for doing the work and you take all the risks. Pay for petrol. Pay for wear and tear/breakdowns, which will happen if you work a lot. No holidays No sick pay/ don’t work don’t earn. No pension contribution from company. Sort and pay taxes on your earnings. This type of work isn’t worth it unless it’s a side hustle, temporary or you’ve lost your job and you need some quick cash,

Does the app give you a route to take? Or do you have to know where you’re going ?
@Its__Isaac

No the app will give you a route depending on where your parcels are! You put in your start point and end point (usually your home address) and the app will plan your route so that your first one is closest to the depot and last one is near your home address!👍🏽
