Bosses only recognize and reward those that run around unorganized and always appear to be busy. They seldom support those that are top producers but don't appear to be fighting fires. It is hard to become successful by working both smart and hard because your boss will be threatened. That is not how he/she works. Self-preservation is stronger than seeing productive results. Most jobs are just a popularity contest! Work for yourself! You'll run circles around them and be incredibly more successful!

I've seen too many times in my jobs when someone who works with excel, just for a simple addition problem, spend so much time with input when they could just set up the program to do what you want it to do. They work for excel instead of excel working for them.They work so hard when just taking a small bit of time to figure it out saves them so much effort.

Pro tip:multi tasking always fails very badly until you realize that you ruined the house of card while trying to open fans for your efficiency/heat tolerance .. Major tasks 1st in the morning & then minor ones for the day is a good going idea, for sure.

Smart way is to hire cart to push the cube , rather figuring out how to turn/shape a cube into a circle. Best one is the combination of Smart planning with hard work and being consistent. Thanx Team Alux

A great tip is finding short cuts! And using the add/multiply problem was a great example. When I was a kid, I learned that the definition of multiplication is repeated addition. So, if you can find a short cut and get the same result, best way to work smart!

You can become more effective at work by focusing on what really matters. You have to measure your results, not your time. More importantly, you need to create and stick to a routine. I have an uncle that always wanted to work himself so hard for other people. Now, he can not walk at all where he exerted so much pressure on his back area (and body, in general). Doctors now say he has cancer and his spine is mushy, which explains his unbearable pain. There's literally nothing doctors can do (I mean what is left to do for a mushy spine really). After seeing my uncle so depressed where he can not do things for himself anymore, I'd refuse to ever put myself in a position where I have to break my body working for someone else (or anyone else for the matter).

Working smarter instead of harder works; unless you are a weight lifter. Then you need to simply work harder. Working smarter can also be like perfectionism. Sometimes people spend so much time trying to figure out how to get out of work, that they could have just done the work to begin with, and would have been well on the way towards getting something done. Working smarter works best for routines, where you already know what you want to do anyway - you just want to do it better. But sometimes you need to get it done the quick and dirty way, by simply working harder. As for doing the hardest thing first, think of a train moving along the tracks. It starts out by barely moving, and then by moving an inch at a time. But then it moves faster and faster, until it becomes unstoppable. Be like the train. Instead of the hardest thing first, do the EASIEST thing first. Then do the next easiest thing, and the next easiest thing. By the time that you have done all of the easiest things, you will have built up enough momentum to do the hardest things. It is human nature to be lazy. So if you can do the easiest things first, these take very little effort, and can be used to overcome the inertia of sitting still. As for perfectionism, that is often the fear of failure. You don't want perfectionism, even when maintaining an aircraft where people's lives depend on you. What you want instead, is attention to detail. You want people who can OBSERVE every little detail - including things that other people might miss. That is sometimes confused with perfectionism, but in reality, it is attention to detail. And in other areas, if you can observe things that other people miss, then you can stay one step ahead of the competition. You can create a new invention, you can find a business niche that nobody else has found, or you can find an investment opportunity that everybody else thinks is crazy - until it starts making money.

You need to have a clear picture of what you want to achieve. - The value of what you produce is measured by how useful it is to people. Figure out the system you're dealing with. - Know when to ask for help. Manage your time well. - Use time management tools (e.g. to-do lists). - Take shortcuts. - Don't spend too much time on minor details that nobody's going to notice or care about. - Have interruption-free slots in your schedule. - Avoid procrastination. - Carry the cube, don't try to turn it into a sphere (work with the tools you have at hand; low-hanging fruit).

Alux the gym part can be different.. I go to the gym to release anger so I can go work the next day.. Some people do there job wrong, so I need to work around them and not look at the bad they do.. If you correct them they get angry at you.. And its mostly self push, more than another.

Here's a question: how do I handle sneaky colleagues, who manage to convince the boss I should do their messy tasks instead of working on the tasks for the projects I'm in charge of, and claim their project is the most urgent one, while the work put in that project is very inefficient, and makes everyone in the office stop their work, only to work twice as hard and long on tasks that will have no value 24 hours later? I've had that and I remembered walking into the boss's office, telling him after a few weeks of working like a rat in a wheel: "Please tell me why I have to work like a rat running in a wheel ending up every morning in the same place I was the morning before, and the morning 3 weeks before? Working 14 hours a day for almost a month, is my problem. Not arriving to the gym all that time because all I do is work, is my problem. Not being with my family while my sick mother-in-law is being rushed from one hospital to another, is my problem. However, firm's projects being delayed and non of the work on them being don, is NOT my problem." How do I prevent this kind of situations to last more than 3 days?

Thumbnail thoughts: people generally mock the picture for the man being tasked with delivering a cube, not a sphere, but it's just a metaphore for easing your work. Still I find him not the smartest because a cylinder is easier to carve, saves more of the original material and the bigger contact area of it with ground makes it easier to roll on dirt haha

My best job interview? One where one of the interviewers (there were 2) and I got talking about baseball a little. I can’t even remember how we got there, but i’m a big fan (Giants) and he was a big Red Sox fan. I aced the interview, I got the job and things seemed to be going pretty well. The problem was, he ended up being a total prick. I left after 10 months.

Group kinds of work. Works that are similar are batched. Separate creative work. Now do similar ones quick and fast because they are just repetitions. These will be mindless work. Do all those batches first. Now with creative work, take time. With this system, you will be saving time with the batches. And, you can allocate that time with creative work.

Working smart is a way of working hard. A smart man makes his money work for him or rather investments. There are many investments out there I have tried quite a few of them but stock trading has been the most successful of all. As I have taken my time to advice young, old and investors to try out investing in forex and stock market.

Good words sir, I have taken my time to learn forex trading but I have to a conclusion, that its not as people say. I have already lost a lot trading on a demo account, i don't even want to imagine how messy the real platform could be.

Well, it was frustrating for me when I started too, but I got better with time. Now I make up to $25k on a single investment. It's all about hard work and some good research.

I don't make that much trading on my own. I trade under the platform of an expert in the forex and stock market by name Alexia Clayton, she has a cooperation where she trades for people who don't have the experience and skills to trade.

Two employees were given a task to finish a sheet. One did it from scratch, the second found a template and utilised it... I took the third way... Initially I spent more time than the two other employees, but I saved more employee-hours in the long term. In my case the task was to be repeated regularly. I wrote a program that would make the sheet. Making the program took longer than making the sheet from scratch, but running the program afterwards was faster than copying the template. Later, I will share my story with Alux.

One of the best things for me at work it's to make a weekly bullet point /check list, even for the basic tasks! Btw, I work in civil engineering and I always advise my coworkers to do that to have a clearer picture of what things they should do first...but they do the opposite, they rely on other people reminding them what to do, they keep asking or interrupt me when they remember that they should have done that ages ago.

Most of us can work smart provided they control their emotions. Anger clouds memory, worry lowers recall, depression leads to procrastination, fear is both good and bad, discard the latter, mental lethargy is more tiresome than physical lethargy so stop unnecessary thinking. Follow up, follow up and follow up, assumption is mother of all goofups.
