On the 14th of October 2023, I went over to Charlie Comstock's for an op session - the first time I've made it to two consecutive sessions at Charlie's in a few years. We were short on operators so it was decided to self-dispatch, without train orders or basically any paperwork. We had:
1. a Time Table
2. Train Sheet explaining when each train was called and could leave
3. Train cards, explaining what each train did.
4. Car cards and waybills
5. a Fast Clock, set to 3 or 4 to 1.
I wrapped the legs of a Gorilla Tripod around my neck like I did at the Mud Bay & Southern ( • Ops On The Mud Bay and... ) and started videoing the BC&SJ. After recording a tour of the layout, I went in for the pre-ops briefing, during which I volunteered for the Redland Switcher... other experienced ops were needed for other (yard) jobs, and the inexperienced ops... well, it wouldn't be polite to put them there their first time on the BC&SJ.
Redland is in the "Land Down Under" that depicts Central Oregon, and is almost a layout unto itself. You don't see much of the rest of the layout during the op session.
So here is my day running Redland, with a bit of a balky GoPro.
