Will emotional trauma ever go away? Addressing it with a professional counselor, praying to God, and talking with trusted friends can ease some pain. In this video Brittany shares her experience with God’s grace and her emotional trauma.
When Brittany was a young teenager, her parents got divorced. The feelings of abandonment were overwhelming. Deeply hurt and longing for acceptance, she ended up in an abusive relationship. Alcohol, starving, and self-harming were just some of the ways in which she tried to cope. But everything she did took her to darker places.
Brittany never felt good enough or lovable enough. It was as if she deserved to be left alone. But one night, while her friends partied, she realized she could not deal with her emotional trauma alone. Alcohol hadn’t helped in the past, and it wouldn’t help now. A thought occurred to her that the Savior, Jesus Christ, could help work through the pain. She wanted to change her life and take the Savior’s hand.
It took time for Brittany to understand her value. Regular therapy visits, prayer, and talking with loved ones helped. Now Brittany consistently works through her trauma in healthier ways.
Hope, healing and support can come in many forms and from a variety of sources, including through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

Victims need someone to believe them and to provide kind, caring support. If you know or suspect someone is being abused, take steps to protect them, and offer to get them help.

hdb80 ❤️❤️❤️ They leave out in editing what I think is the most poignant part of it all actually. My dad left after the divorce and I didn’t see him again for more than a decade. Then I had my abuser even leave me. But the Savior never left and He never will! I’ll always belong to Him! ❤️❤️❤️

❤ I could feel so deeply her conviction, the reality of her experience with Jesus Christ. I very much also experience Grace as the Lord being near me, not carrying me or taking away pain, but just being with me through it. His gift of love and strength is immeasurably powerful and enlivening.

I have been in a similar place. The good news is that, with faith and prayer and the amazing resources available today, trauma DOES heal and resolve, and you can live an even better life and do more good in the world than you could have without those experiences. The other good news, I'm so excited about today, is that so much I've learned about preventing and healing from emotional trauma is the basis of the new child and youth program. In working on those principles, along with many from positive parenting, mindfulness and sensory integration, I almost can't believe how much better I feel. They made us to be able to recover and thrive again. They know we need this support now as much as ever. Wishing you all well.

The therapeutic and healing power of hearing and seeing others who have endured terrible emotional and mental pain and then found solace in Jesus Christ, combined with recognition of the many other steps we may need to take is so very, very real and life changing. Hearing and watching brings the miracle of healing to those who are in desperate need of hope and relief from severe pain and trauma. Thank You!!!

I was the same, i didn't feel accepted at church and my mom encouraged me to not follow the commandments. So at 16 i went inactive, got into drugs, drink n by 17 i was living with a young man and was pregnant. At my son at 18, soon after he was born, the lad i was with began hitting me, telling me i was fat n just knocking me down. By 21 i had my 2nd child, by then i was using drugs n staving myself. But 1 day, i rook my son up to school n my daughter to nursery, n 1 of the workers said oh Susan wants to see you upstairs. So i went up, n she was like Zara your going to have to leave him of loose your children, so that day with just the clothes we had on back we where taken about 35/40 miles away. N i remember having this awesome feeling don't get your children in the bath, n so i listened, next thing i know im waking up in hospital being told that id had a stroke n that i needed heart surgery. Just then i said to myself what would i have done what would i have said that even alittle justified my actions over the past 5yrs. So then i made the decision to go back to church. Straighted myself out, n that was the best decision I have ever made. Now 12/13 yrs on i am active, n clean. That life seems so far away from me now, i have a calling which i love, i love serving in the church. I have never felt so close to my heavenly father.

Brittany, thank you for sharing this with us.. I am so sorry you had to go through it. But look, you have come up from where you were! Our Saviour, Jesus the Christ was there, is Always there, extending his Loving Arms, to help us lift ourselves up.. I am so glad that you are in a better place now.. My Ex got into bad things, then found all those awful, hateful, blogs of Church Haters, and decided they were telling the truth.. She left our Temple Marriage, left the Church, took those beautiful step-kids, and went her own way, without me.. I so missed being their stepfather.. I cried every day, every night, for almost a year.. I cried myself to sleep reading the scriptures every night.. Everyone was so tired of me, I can't blame them.. I was an emotional wreck.. My family was taken away from me , and there was no chance it was ever going to come back. One night, while I was sleeping, He came to me! He was wearing a white robe.. He put His Loving Hand inside me, took my heart out, and I could see there was a part of it missing, it was raw and bleeding. That was my Family that was taken away from me.. He then put His Loving Hand into His robe, and took a part of His Beautiful Heart and joined it to my broken heart, and put it back into my chest.. I was immediately Healed ! I no longer felt that awful hurt, I no longer cried every day and night.. I will always miss my Family, but I know, He has seen this entire situation, and He knows I will be better and I am ! He loves you so much, Brittany ! He sees the beginning to the end.. He knows what you can manage, what you can experience so you can grow, and then someday, be able to help others; He ALWAYS comes to You, to Us !!! He has the most, beautiful, tender, loving, voice, in Eternity.. I testify to you, Brittany, that everything I have said to you is Truth !! We love you ! Have Extreme Faith ! This alone can move mountains ! Prayers for you and yours..

Delores, I’m sorry to read your post. Feeling alone is a hard place to be. I was there for years but was blessed to get to a better place. For me, the only one I could, at times, feel was there was the Lord. Thru singing hymns, reading His words, and prayer He helped me get through the toughest hours and days. I came to know that Jesus also was alone and at times was abandoned. He knows what our sorrows are like because He also had them. I pray God will bless you with feelings of peace and a knowledge that He knows you and loves you. Better days are ahead. Trust in Him.

I keep praying for my parents to accept and just allow me to go to church but they are against it. I pray everyday I ask for this, but I don’t seem to get help or guidance. I don’t know what else I can do? Also I had a run in with a few missionaries, they asked some pretty weird and out their questions, and their attitudes changed. I got the impression they didn’t want to talk to me anymore. They have moved away/ back home now and they have never been in touch since. And every other missionary sent me a nice text telling me bye. And one of the ones I think hates me just got another missionary to say bye. And one of the missionaries I got on well with, I feel is now acting weird (we still talk on Facebook.) I Donno if it’s because I’m not a member of the church or what but I honestly have been questioning it all all because of my experience with the missionaries. I could give more details but this would be even bigger than what it is.

@kylethedalek, thanks for your comment and for sharing your experiences. First, we're sorry to hear about the opposition you face from your parents in attending church. Even if it feels like your prayers aren't being answered, know that your Heavenly Father is there, He loves you and cares about you, and He will guide you as you continue to reach out to Him in prayer. There are many resources online for you to continue to learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ, like these videos, and we hope you'll one day be able to join us! As for the missionaries, we're sorry for your experience. Missionaries do move often and eventually return home, but they love those they teach and do their very best to help them. We invite you to reach out to the missionaries in your area again, sharing your experience and your hope to learn the gospel: www.comeuntochrist.org/contact-us Take care!

Thank you for another great video. I am wondering if someone in the church could create a series of videos and support to specifically help those who have suffered through narcissistic/antisocial abuse (maybe not particularly on this channel?). There are many secular resources online but I really haven't seen much from a gospel perspective, other than a few other Christian opinions that people with NPD (or worse) have a Jezebel spirit. Many therapists don't even know how to adequately treat the victims of this insidious abuse, even though there is a reported increase in occurrences of this type of abuse due to the growing number of people who are becoming this way in society and because the survivors are learning to identify and label these destructive behavioural patterns. Thank you for your consideration.

Hello sister I'm shawn a proud member of onkapringa ward sa Australia I've been through a lot of trauma in my life did you know 1 in 6 people has been through 4 or more trauma in thire life every time I tried for help either friends or the bishop something in me just doesn't want me to ask for any help I even prayered to the lord for a better life and he granted me that blessing but I still think I'm not done dealing with my all the trauma I've experienced. Everyday I always think of the good things in life and helped others just like the jessus would, I've even help the people around me dealing with thire trauma and they are always thankful for that. But every passing day I feel sad and all alone even because no one helped me with my trauma I sometime think to myself "am I putting others first istead of myself because the Lord tought us that" all I need is someone right beside me and talk to I don't know who I tried talking to jessus and even our dear heavenly father about this. I want someone that experienced as much trauma as me to talk to I hope you enjoy your life because I can never live life to the fullest

Jesus had never suffered and sacrificed for us. It was people that decided to kill him at that time and sadly became his fate. We have so much emotional trauma and pain and have not yet released. God is helping us all the way, but first, we need to have faith we can do this alone. God creates us with the ability to cope, process, and heal our fear-based emotion alone----and that's self-responsibility. I have learned so much from Divine Truth from reincarnated Jesus. He has videos on youtube about how to heal your own emotion and it has worked out for me.

salms 68:5 A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. 1 Peter 2:23-24 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. "He himself bore our sins" in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; "by his wounds you have been healed."

Hi, thanks for your question. Our current prophet, President Russell M. Nelson, has emphasized the importance of using the full name of the Church. You or others interested can learn more here: www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2018/10/the-correct-name-of-the-church?lang=eng We hope that helps!

I spent, like my forefathers, 40 years wandering in the wilderness. I joined the church in my early 20's. I was embraced by some wonderful people, one of which I am still very close to today. Soon after my baptism I went on a mission. After returning home, 2 years later I was married, not in the temple immediately, even though my friend suggested strongly to wait till I am ready to marry in the temple. We did eventually get sealed, however our children were not born under the covenant. My faith was not fully firm. At age 45 I was arrested & sent to prison for downloading underage pornography. My membership was withdrawn at this time also. I did not become angry & ask Father why me, I knew why, I had ignored the warning signs & did not listen to the voice of the Spirit. I had 15 years to think about it. My wife divorced me & my children will speak to me. Upon returning from prison, I took along hard look at myself. I knew I had turned away from the Lord. Now broken hearted I was ready to humble my self before Him. I had not done this before. I believed excepting Him once was enough. I understand now I must except every day of my life. I must repent ever day of my life. He is my Saviour ever day of my life. I am so grateful for my father's love every day of my life, He has made me whole again, & it only took 40 years to achieve, but my life is a success now, because of Him.
