I did crumb quilting for a while and people's told me they were just Scrappy old quilts. I love to use all the little pieces I sewed them all together then put a 6in ruler over it and would cut it down so I would have six inch blocks and then put them all together. You make me so happy to see the others are doing crumb quilting and it's acceptable when I started people thought I was crazy just making junk. I donated them for children and they were always happy they could play I Spy all day long under their covers. Thank you for showing me how to use a foundation piece I've never done that before just saw in the strips together iron them and then cut them out.

Material is expensive, we always have bits we can’t use, but even to make coasters it’s a nicer way than throwing good material away. You should carry on if your happy and like doing it that’s all that matters. Some folk do not appreciate things we make sadly. If you add you scraps up there are many yards after a short while. Hehe. Plus who needs an excuse for doing a bit of sewing😀👍

( been working on a crumb quilt for 4 years🎉 using all the scraps- it’s full size🎉 gonna keep going ) If I wanted to I could make a backing 2-3 inches bigger than the front? And quilt as you go?? Maybe put a layer( of batting) in between? Humm🎉😊the ideas are endless🎉

The thin piece at 3:46 is perfect to twist into fabric twine to use. We all have those little thin bits from every project don’t toss them. Twist them, and use them together. Or twist singles, then twist 3 together to make a thin rope.

Greetings, I am watching this video because I would like to utilize my fabric crumbs rather than throw them into the trash. I find a great use for long strings of fabric is to tie them or connect them and use them as yarn for crocheting, knitting, or weaving. I was thinking the best use for complete scraps like tags and bits would be to somehow shred them up as small as possible and use them for stuffing for a pillow or something. Thank you so much for the inspiration.

Thankyou, for showing how its done. I was given a cabbage bag a long time ago still have packed away and now I’m sure this is how it was made .loved and used it. But never could part with it. I love the random patching of fabric. I might just purposely make som scraps out of a few pieces of material and see what comes out. I love junk journaling. Going to get the sewing machine out and make some journal covers. Wendy from South Africa

Just found your channel, love your relaxed attitude about quilting. The quilt police can take the joy out of our quilting, if we let them. Also, noticed the Janome sewing machine I have two and their long arm, they are fabulous machines and such work horses. I have been using the computerized models since 1995 and yearly maintenance is all required. Thanks for a great video.
