I totally get your excitement and enthusiasm! I had created a few base pages in the past, maybe 10 years ago, at a scrapbooking workshop, but didn’t really consider them to be useful for me because I was all about photos first, then plan your page creation from there. But then, like you, I was inspired by Janet about 4 years ago when I watched my first base page video, and she exploded my ever loving scrapbook mind! Now, I have 6 cropper hopper paper file boxes full of them, and creating the base page is absolutely addicting. But, I realized I was forgetting about them because it wasn’t my normal process to use them. So, about a year ago I made it a point to go to those files before I create a page to see what I can use. When I find one that works, I get giddy and am so excited to put it together. I keep the base pages in a plastic record album cover along with any flat embellishments and a copy of the sketch if I used one, and I usually do. When I am not in a mental headspace to do a full layout, I like grabbing a sketch and paper from scraps, a collection, or page kit and going to town making a base page. I finished a Sea World album of my grandkids and was able to use 5 base pages from my stash. Love it! The key word to using them is “flexibility”. When creating them you need the elements such as mats and flat embellishments to be adhered with minimal adhesive so that they are flexible enough to be lifted for tucking, or, and here is where flexibility is again key, so you can switch out the photo size if the original photo placement guide is not working for your photos. You demonstrated this perfectly in your video. I could be a base page preacher, but I am now annoying myself with my own enthusiasm! I loved yours, however, and enjoyed hearing how another scrapper “gets it.” Thanks for sharing your joy with us!

I have heard of base pages but have never made them. I have always just ordered my pictures and scrapped them (sometimes using a sketch) when delivered. It would be so helpful to have pages designed in advance

I really enjoyed this video. My base pages are more like your Santa one since most are from CTMH workshops. So, instead of looking through old printed photos, I will look at photos that haven’t been printed yet. Thanks for the tip! And that baby is PRECIOUS!
