The "Fool" in the Rain is about himself. He's been waiting and waiting for his love to meet up with him at a street corner. Time is passing by as he watches people and cars for hours and worries that her lateness might be her standing him up, but then finally realizes he's mistakenly been waiting for her on the wrong block! Sweet, funny, lovely song lyrically and wickedly brilliant musically.😍

Hell yeah, as a drummer I know that he’s putting together two different types of beats and it’s not easy to count

Some context: this is from the last studio album, In through the out door… Jimmy and bonzo were deep into their addictions, and less involved the previous albums… so this a Robert Plant/JPJ heavy album. All the drummers out there go nuts when they hear this track, the shuffle beat is really hard to nail, and then it slips into a full blown Samba, just another facet of the greatest band in history. Love your reactions man, you really get what makes this band so incredible.

Love that you know the Samba is coming when you hear that Carnival whistle!😀Great description of this masterpiece!

Most correct comment I’ve heard about this track/album. I try to play this beat so many times and fuck it up after 20 seconds every time 😅

Robert Plant later said that his working so closely with John Paul Jones helped out of a dark time in his life as he was still grieving over the death of son Karac. Love that you love Led Zeppelin!

Don't feel bad, I have a drummer friend, he's been playing for like 40 years now, he can nail Slayer, Maiden, Slipknot, any metal drummer he can copy to a T, but he still cannot get Bonham's rhythms just right, those grooves and that timing and feel just evades him
@jacksmorrow27242 жыл бұрын

Yeah , Pope- they do do it all. But it was the good old Blues plus Soul plus Rock that brought these lads together as Blues Rock rocketing up to where they were free to try just about anything they wanted. But you knew all that, didn't you? You know, intrinsically. Peace and be safe.

Amazing stuff ! John Bonham blows the whistle at the beginning of that middle section - he blows it throughout the middle part. Jonesy's piano was incredible - Jimmy's guitar solo so good and on ! Robert's vocal good ! That was their last studio album - John Bonham passed away 13 months and 10 days after the release of that album

And again with Bonham, that drumbeat, like his own version of the Purdie Shuffle; if you listen to Rosanna by Toto, Jeff Porcaro said his drumbeat on that track is like a hybrid of the Purdie Shuffle and Fool in the Rain

Lovin' All Reactions Man! No Pausing every 10 seconds. No BABBLING On, & On Endlessly during the Pause. I can watch you REACT to the Music 🎶 . Which is what I Enjoy. It's like " I knew he'd like it" If they Listen, and Not Pause all the DAMN Time! And BONZO'S Drumming in this has people Mind Boggeled. And has Modern day Drummers Challenging them Selves to learn the Drum 🥁 Riffs in this. Because learning the Riffs, and the Timing for this is DAUNTING!! OH, And Did you notice the Xylophone after the Whistle?? Great Reaction Man! Peace ✌️

Hi Pope! I want to say that I love how you love Zeppelin. I love how you express yourself. You're not faking it for likes. You really are impressed with Zeppelin as we all are. My first time hearing them was age 13 in 1989. An older guy in my neighborhood saw me outside one spring afternoon and said "Hey Aud, have you ever listened to Zeppelin?" I said "No, Joey, I never have." He said that that needed to be changed. Because I was into rock and metal I need to be educated in some Zeppelin. So about a few days later he was cutting a neighbors lawn by my house and saw me outside and stopped the mower, grabbed some water out of the hose and motioned for me to run over. So I did. "I have a blank tape of all Zeppelin tunes I recorded from the radio (WBAB 102.3) when they played all Zeppelin back to back over an entire weekend a while back. So here you go. Listen and let me know." I was instantly taken. I was in awe. I would never be the same. I fell in love and I'm still in love. Thank you so much for enjoying the music my dear.
