World Class Trout Fishing Along the West Virginia Railroad

West Virginia is blessed with countless miles of well stocked trout waters and while most of them get flooded with anglers there are sections of systems that provide serenity and the opportunity to catch quality trout while social distancing. This is the case with the Buckhannon River where the West Virginia Division of National Resources partners with A&O Railroad to load trout onto rail cars and stock them in holes along a 15-mile stretch accessible only by walking along the tracks. We'll show you what they do and how to catch this rainbows, brooks, browns and golden rainbows in this episode of Pautzke Outdoors.

man I went to go bass fishing today and they had just stocked it with rainbows. luckily I had little Colorado and caught 30 of them. 12 guys fishing all around me didn't get a single bite. hardest ive ever whooped a group of guys in my life lol

Bronco, that's a zip tie sorta thing. When he breaks the rod down it wraps around the rod to hold it together.

Victor, Many of the trout stockings are announced. We had to walk a mile in to many of these spot just like every other angler does.

I always thought walking on and fishing near train tracks is illegal. Are there special regulations in West Virginia?

John, The state stocks these waters with the purpose anglers walk and go catch them.

"as we all know, fire bait is a magnet towards brook trout " --- LOL stocked brook trout are dumber than rocks and will eat anything (stocked rainbows as well when you follow the stocking truck) Only skill you need is the ablility to get a line in the water. Boring.
