Samsonov is my idol in TT. Not only because i have a somewhat similar bodytype, but also because of his tactics, his coolness and his style of playing. He's so effortless, aware of the ball and yet he has that killerinstic going in and finishing the point, when its needed! Masterclass!

@@andreaseriksson8803Appelgren best looper away from the table but he didn't counter-attack much. Samsonov's backhand block down the line was the killer in the 90's and if you tried to play to the wide forehand he used to block to wide angles.

Samsonov is one of the best defensive players on the circuit, without being a chopper. He doesn't move back and lob as much as Maze, though. His blocking game is second to none. The top Euro players can beat any of the Chinese on a good day.

Not really. Samsonov just played him like a child. Samsonov has always played some great games vs Xu. Also, this is his golden era right here.

He just exploited the loopholes of his game with his pinpoint placement.He is the last European player who plays with placement and variety.That's the only way to beat the Chinese. Xu Xin at 22 shouldn't be inexperienced,Samsonov at 21 reached the final of the WTTC despite having much inferior coaches.

It's just amazing to see Samsonov play... It almost looks like he wouldn't even try hard, but it seems to be the most effective way to win against Chinese. Xu Xin doesn't know what to do

im not a professional sportsman and i have no idea how they considering whose points, but personally i dislike that kind of moves, when you compete and want to win, do your best to win, dont give up anything. Theres nothing wrong in losing 0 to 11, shake hands after the match, no one needs that "mercy". I am not judging or something, perhaps it's some kind of tt ethics i suppose.
