Naveen, your Kandy visit to the Buddhist temple was very informative. I had an English Dictionary published by the British rulers from England in 1915-20 time when my father , then in primary school in Calicut, got the book as a gift from a Ceylon based relative. In that book there were many B&W pictures of various tourist places of Ceylon. The Tooth Temple of Kandy was prominently shown. In your video behind you I could spot the boundary wall of the Buddha Temple. It strongly resembles the boundary walls of the famous Tali Sivan Temple in Calicut, now called Kozhikode. The outline of the structure of the Buddha Temple building also resembles the outline of the Tiruvambadi temple at Thrissur. Interesting. Just like in Kerala, tea is the main beverage in Sri Lanka too and puttu and the kadalai curry and parotta too are like Kerala restaurants. Also coconut oil and coconuts are used in most dishes just like in Kerala and Coastal Karnataka.

Superb videography and excellent info about the places shown in this video. The hotel room and its location does not look average or budget like what you mentioned.....it looked pretty decent and good enough for a family to stay. The series so far has been in such indepth detail that people who wish to visit SL can use it as a guide.

Veg food is available in SL. There are many pure veg restaurants in the major cities. It's just that restaurants serving veg and non veg food are more in number and all over the place than pure veg restaurants.

Super like!! I went in 2004 and visited here. Remember MGRs birth place is Kandy. Nuara Eliya climate would have been very cold. Visit Seetha Eliya (Ashoka vanam), Ravana falls closeby. Visit சக்தி வாய்ந்த கதிர்காம்ம் in your trip. Is your friend angry with you - not smiled couple of shots 😊 தயிர் சாதம் I bought then was Rs 600 Srilankan currency- iNR was only twice in value in 2004

Ella Odyssey is a train that runs only 2 days a week and is just over hyped and over rated.....resulting in over pricing too. There are 2 daily day trains and 1 daily night train in the same route and you can get the same views from Colombo to Badulla or vice versa. Infact we went to SL before Ella Odyssey days and took the regular day train to enjoy the scenic route.
