Gokayama, together with Shirakawago, is listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site.
You can not only see the traditional farmhouses in Gassho-zukuri style, but also stay at some of them.

Wonderful filming my friends! I love the home you stayed at :) The thatched roof homes look so beautiful! Are you going to Shirakawa-go as well? I’ve heard Gokayama is just as cool but less busy. I want some of that tempura sweet potato and firm tofu! I loved the overlooks too, so peaceful. Thank you for the amazing time, I appreciate both of you! 🙏🇯🇵❤️🍠 🌿⛰👍

Thank you so much for coming back✨ Yes, Shirakawago is much bigger with 60 farmhouses. We'll visit Shirakawago as well when we visit Gifu prefecture(We can't say when, but for sure!).

Can a foreigner live in these parts? Like shikarawago and gokayama ?

It must be difficult to settle in here even for Japanese unless you have some kind of connections, but you can stay a few days at guest houses in Shirakawago and Gokayama like we did🛌 Please be ready to sleep in Futon😁
