I remember this show when it was on, but was too young to appreciate how good the show was. In the days when truth was not a dirty word and we saw the world for what is really was. I am not sure that I miss those days, but this show should be brought back with both the quality production that it had in the 1970s and the haunting theme tune.

I love this even more than the theme tune at the start.

I Loved the way this end title music sounds. It's hard to describe but it seemed to have gravitas and helped you digest the weight of the subject that was being pondered.

I would describe the end music as 'Consoling' after hearing the very hard-hitting title tune and the gravity of the matters that were being investigated during the programme.

Have to say I found it bleak and haunting. Totally fitting, since often an episode of World in Action would end with a concluding statement along the lines of this one, i.e. it is all as bad as we have just depicted, and right now there is no reason to expect it's going to get any better. Drove home how powerless one might feel in the face of such bad news... and yet ironically World in Action changed the course of events by shining a light on them in various situations.

Thanks Philo. Great upload. This was an era which offered great diversity in TV broadcasting. Whilst it was largey fun and entertaining it also offered gritty, hard hitting programmes like World in Action. which were thought provoking, informative, balanced and intelligent. It was at times a very sobering experience. The music fitted it perfectly. A quality piece of television. Cheers ATVmidlands UK

Back when ITV did serious, good quality programmes, and aired them at peak times

Always liked watching this on Thames Television here in London, it won loads of awards, it went head to with This Week - Thames Television.

I've just bought myself all four volumes of Network's 'World in Action' DVD's to see if it's as good as I remember it being. As a kid, it was what got me interested in current affairs.

Good luck. Prepare to watch, reflect, and end up thoroughly depressed at how little things have changed.

This documentary was gloomy and hard-hitting back then with a hunting theme tune that made us sit back and think.

now that’s how you end a programme! This just makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. Of course, these days, there would be an announcer talking all over the top of it.

I always regret that I was too young in the 1970s, and 80s to respect, and appreciate this hard hitting, and thought provoking programme. But I do recall, and remember how the theme, title music, and end theme made me think about what I had just seen, and the subject matter. It is difficult to watch some episodes, even in 2021. That says a lot for the quality, and professionalism of all those involved. Your work is done.,and it will continue to educate. Great stuff.
