All these boat aficionados saying it's ugly. Of course it is ugly for you guys, boat and plane guys have no sense of style. They enjoy boring boats and planes always painted in white and with wood decks. For me this is one of the most beautiful boats out there, the sleekness, the simplicity, straight lines for the sturdy bits and round line for the soft bits. People saying the maltese falcon is better. The Maltese Falcon looks like a big yatch with masts slammed on top. The A combines modernism with the style of old oriental sail ships in a way that keeps proportion and with the details, or lack of, that make it hide it's size. A marvelous design and a huge feat of engineering. It's a boat for people that use SI units, not knots.

Who remembers the beautiful architecture from those USSR days? Well I think those days are back.

It looks like a huge cocoon that's totally not in touch with the sea. Hardly any decks.....just a lot of portholes. Not very outdoor friendly. Looks like a huge iceberg.

I love the lines on the port and starboard side. Beautiful design. The f*cking thing is just waaaaay too big to be pretty. Looks more like an army destroyer. If you're gonna splurge that much money on a boat, give it more soul and grace. This thing is monstrous. I'd still want one though :D

Great video! Thanks for posting. Melnichenko's motor yacht "A" also looked butt ugly when she was first launched but seemed better over time. Now (to me at least) she is a really beautiful yacht. I expect that the same will be the case with "White Pearl", she will probably become an acquired taste. "White Pearl" is the project name by the way, upon delivery I understand she shall also be called "A".

I am a zero expert on sailing yachts. I think you can argue about the design's beauty but for sure it blows everything we have ever seen out of the water, no pun intended. Darth Vader would be proud. But my question is: Doesnt this look completely underpowered if using sails? I think unless there are massive engines - which defeats the whole purpose - the owner will be very unhappy with this, crusing at 1 knot.

Sorry, but this is THE most ugly boat I have ever seen. Considering the amount of money spent on this thing it could have been really good…. but it's not. I don't care about the politics of how this guy got his money. It's obvious that he has no taste. It may be a marvel of modern technology and it may tick a lot of boxes but looks are not one of them. It starts off OK at the bow but as it goes farther aft it just gets worse and worse. Can't someone come up with a paint-job that might tone it down a bit.

Can this boat actually be sailed? How are the sails deployed? All sail handling and trimming would have to be done with motors. She probably sleeps 300, with 200 crew.

the designee inspiration is a medieval shoe, it has one anchor for a longer anchor chain, the keel of the ship is more than 3 inch thick to add as a counter weight and from being blown into the shallows by the tall mast and due to the fact the boat has no rudder but where the observation bubble is separates the two props preventing a turning effect turning the vessel when powered by the wind the electric motors used to assist the main engines when their gearbox is in neutral generate power and also keep the ship on curse via propeller pitch and alternating power generation between the two electric motors so when full sail on a windy day no engines just humming of the generators. the thick white poles on top of the mast are radars just circular narrow square or hex with radar emitter top or bottom of the pole, and their are more booms in the mast not just the bottom, plus a massive fuel tank that has the fuel tanks but with the fuel in bags for when you use fuel the bags shrinks and you replace the void with seawater thus trying to keep stable ship without or with very small ballast tanks and more pitchers of the pool mosaic please
