ALRIGHT, as someone who is doing the Lightlocke right now I'm gonna give you the rundown so you have a chance at victory. FIRST, there are primary spirits and secondary (also known as support) spirits. Primary spirits are your main source of defense and power, and only sometimes come with extra benefits like lifesteal. They also hold various amounts of slots for secondary spirits. Secondary spirits are your modifiers. Starting with unira, being giant temporarily, and the like. You can use these to counter your enemy spirit's effects. CHEESE IS A VALID STRATEGY, they don't play fair. SECOND, primary spirits have different types. Neutral, Grab, Shield, and Attack. Grab, Shield, and Attack counter eachother in a rock paper scissors type way. Grab beats Shield beats Attack beats Grab. Neutral beats nothing but is beaten by nothing. I advise always countering the spirit you're facing and never using neutral. THIRD, all spirits have power levels. If your power level is below the spirit you're facing, you'll do less damage and they'll do more, and vice versa. You almost always want to face spirits with lower power levels. FOURTH, you can power level up spirits with "snacks" from the menu, you'll need this to face tougher opponents. FIFTH, to progress in the game, you need to kill the main three bosses. You'll find them by when Galeem (the main villain) makes the teleporters red. In those special areas you'll find a boss at the end. Killing all 3 will open Galeem for a boss battle, after which you'll travel to the Dark Realm. SIXTH, the skill tree is an extremely important addition to the game. You should check all the skill tree options to make sure what path you want to take. BE SURE TO USE THE SHOPS. They sell groups of 5 skill orbs at a time as well as strong spirits. FINALLY, to access or repair certain things, you need certain spirits that are scattered across the map. For example, the three axemen spirit can repair bridges that let you access multiple different things like Jigglypuff or chests. I could go further into detail but you need to know these base things to beat this challenge, it's a lot harder than it looks. Good luck!

Some advice: -In the menu for world of light you have a skill tree that you can spend the spheres you find on that give your characters upgrades that go across all characters -Its a good idea to unlock shops like the one found by Link as they can sell you spheres and new spirits with the SP you gain. Getting one so early on actually makes the Villager and Shiek paths better options than the Marth path. -For the Nuzlocke, you want to prioritize collecting characters before progression as when you unlock 10 characters, you get all the DLC fighters unlocked too -If you take the villager path again, do not fight Snorlax until you have unlocked Captain Falcon as no other character can easily deal enough damage to beat him before that point -There are a number of extremely difficult spirits that are optional to fight and I would suggest avoiding all together for a Nuzlocke, such as Pauline, Dr. Willy and The Boss. -Its best to always have a spirit advantage or else your opponent will do far more damage to you. Shield beats Sword, Grab beats Shield and Sword beats Grab. If you're struggling, use the recommended spirit button. -Some battles are not winnable until you have the correct spirit, such as ones where it will say the floor is lava. Do not try to fight these without the correct immunity as in the later versions of these fights the entire battlefield is covered by the hazard meaning you will take constant damage and not be able to fight at all.

Here's an interesting twist on it, instead of losing the character, you can choose to sacrifice every equipped spirit instead, helps to make things more interesting so you can save a character you really like

When Little Z said "they could have chosen so many animals that weren't Yoshi like a dinosaur but they just put a tail on Yoshi", I'm hoping I'm just not understanding him and not that he doesn't know that Yoshi is a dinosaur.

Here's a breakdown on what spirit type advantages do. First off there are 3 main colors for spirits each with their own advantage/disadvantage. Red = attack Blue = shield Green = grab So as you can imagine Red beats Green, Green beats Blue and Blue beats red. So ideally you'll want to equip a spirit with the stronger attribute than the one you're going up against. Also the purple spirits (like eevee) have no type advantage or disadvantage. They're just there.
