Big Daddy makes a surprisingly effective heel.

Thanks for the upload. Great to see some footage of Big Daddy when he was a bog-standard heavyweight, before he was re-packaged as the omnipotent superhero, the "Mums' & Dads' Favourite" ... with Haystacks cast as the arch-villain.

Watch his match against John Elijah, it shows at the start of his face turn and he actually wrestles rather well.

Tibor Szakacs was an Olympian. He was a Hungarian Army officer who came to England as a refugee from the Hungarian Uprising of 1956 and had his first match in Joint Promotions against British Heaveyweight Champion Billy Joyce. He held the record for winning the Royal Albert Hall Tournament Trophy the most times (5). He was blinded in one of his eyes during a match with Kendo Nagasaki and never regained his position in the top card. He died in 1981 at the youngish age of 53.

Amazing how much weight Big Daddy gained between this match and the early 1980s

Holy Cow !!!!!!!!! Big Daddy a heel ???? I never heard he did a heel change... quite interesting to say the least... Being from PA USA, I never had the the privilage to watch World of Sport on the telly... Only reading about it in the Wrestling Revue or The Ring Magazines.... I cannot tell you how much enjoyment your video's bring... Thank you very much for your posts.....

Wikipedia doesn't even acknowledge this but it's a very different Daddy to the one most people remember, as you can see here.

Back when Big Daddy was a heel

I'd almost forgotten how quick the 10 count was back then compared with today's wrestling.

Ref needs two sets of eyes in his head to control that madness.

I always thought there was a lambs to the slaughter aspect to these kinds of tags. Much prefferred it when it was equalized.

At least Daddy and Haystacks were thinner then.

It's true that Big Daddy started out as a bad-guy. I'm not sure what prompted the switch to kid's favourite.

Daddy and Haystacks are fucking tiny here. This must have been filmed when they were, like, 16-year-old trainee wrestlers or something.
