The biggest storms are often preceded by a sudden calm, as if the whole world stands still for a moment while the winds gather all their strength. This patch includes many important changes and improvements leading up to the release of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, including the new PvP Honor and Arena systems. Prove your worth on the Battlegrounds and earn new, powerful PvP Honor rewards, or take the ultimate test of your team PvP skills in the new Arena System. Also, you can already learn the new class talents that will help you brave the many challenges awaiting you in Outland and beyond. There are many new, groundbreaking features to be found in this patch, but always remember -- this is nothing but the calm...before the storm.

Ketchupsmokin Blaze It's why I stopped playing. Getting good weapons and gear, it always felt like an achievement. Especially since you were also fighting others for the same loot. Now, everyone gets their own loot. Spoon feeding at it's finest.

+Lewtable yeah that is pretty true. starting with the Wrath cinematic, they began to explain the focal point of the plot which is great, though in the MoP cinematic there was a general sequence of events happening in order but no specific focal point for the plot was told, adding to the mysterious atmosphere of the expansion. random stuff in random order really only works for PvP centred expansions like you said.

I couldn't even name another Forsaken if I tried. I remember Putress and Varimathras, but those don't really count given the whole "betraying everyone and trying to summon the Legion" thing. I think I remember some Undead Warrior NPC at the Horde starting area in Howling Fjords that was pretty cool, but I don't remember his name.

Random Sandwich Arthas was a human, only the lich king was a demon, but the lich kings soul is now bound to bolvar at the frozen throne, so arthas died and wont come back

Brilliant trailer. A showcase of everything new in the expansion: where to enter (dark portal), new class talent abilities (holy nova, flame nova), new zones (eversong, azuremyst, deadwind pass or ghostlands, hellfire), main mobs (naga), new races (belf, draenei), new armor showcase (tier 4 paladin i think, also hammer of naaru), racial ability (mana tap), new main villain (illidan) and source of his power (skull of guldsn) and residence (shadowmoon).

I love this trailer, more than any other WoW trailer, because in addition to featuring a cool expansion villain, it also heavily featured player characters. It's been a long, long time since Blizzard gave this kind of love to the players, instead of self-aggrandizing their terrible writing.

Oh the memories this brings back... When I waited for this to come out and I raided AQ40 and Naxx with in my cousin's guild. When it came in on the mail 12 hours before release. Then on the launch day no one could do anything because servers lagged out and crashed. But on the 3rd day things started to work smooth. Oh the raids, the drama, the joys, the new friends I still know and play with outside wow. Oh why did it have to end.

I showed up to Best Buy about 5 hours before they opened and stood as first in line in the FREEZING cold. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

I did that with lich. Stood there in -25 for hours at the Finnish independence day. And still had 4 hours before server opened up (Because thy were allowed to physically sell the product at the day of the launch.) Got home EVERYONE from the guild was on Ventrillo all 60 of us. Everyone rushed in at the moment of launch when they asked you to relog in order to activate the content, then server basically died. Good times... Good times... I made lot of friends in the freezing ass queue that I still know today.

So much nostalgia. I played WoW from 2005 to 2012 and I miss it dearly. I've tried to make a few returns over the last couple years but I just can't get hooked and get that same feeling that I used to. Thank you Blizzard for all the great years!

Brian U Um, wasn't it because the demons in Illidan's control began to invade? Think about it. The quests in Blasted Lands. Near the portal, you fight demons and such for the quests in Blasted Lands, because they've come into our world. In Hellfire Peninsula, at the Stairs of Destiny, the demons that are constantly being fought by the mix of horde and alliance forces are attempting to invade, as I have seen some walk through the gate as well.. Anyways, Lord Dia Celium, chauffeur de taxis d'Imhotep ... since when is WoW lore awful? Lol ..?

Blood elf and Forsaken in the Horde. Eredar retcon. Blood elf leader becoming crazy. It is awful story. There were some good stories in TBC and Vanilla, but most of TBC story was awful.

It totally has the most epicly awesome raid content. Hyjal, Black Temple, and Sunwell had such a big, badass, epic vibe to them. The game also was still in this nice balance of difficult content and staggered progression among all the different guilds. How about you hun, what was some of your favorite things about it.

***** Well in context, I just watched the trailer for Capcom's Deep Down, and thats an MMO for consoles, so I had a thought for WoW to end, then WC4, then something like WoW2, maybe a few years later. By then computer hardware would improve and also considering's Blizzard's speed with making sequels, i.e. D3 and SC2, WC4 if it ever comes out will be like maybe a decade later.

Indeed, the power of PC's will always outweigh that of a console though. WoW does need a new graphical rework. However, it's the gameplay and content that's important; sure you can pump out high budget aesthetically pleasing mmos for pc and console, but you will never reach the standard blizzard has achieved during the long years WoW has been live.

This was my favorite era of WoW personally. I was in a great guild with great people and the setting was just amazing. I stopped playing after Wrath, but tried to come back a few months ago. The game is just way too different. It could honestly pass as a sequel almost.

i agree, i played since late vanilla and played all the way until MoP (obviously taking a couple breaks in between expansions) and the game has changed so myc. mostly making it easier for casuals, but the new expansion gives me hope. they're reducing the scaling waaaay down on wow. so we will gradually scale instead of huge spikes for every expansion
