Yorck is a good CA, it’s an HC spammer. The AP on it is just meh. People hate on it because they refuse to use the HC because “German HC sucks, German AP is where it’s at” which generally true, not true for the Yorck and the DD’s. Deutch DD’s have shockingly good HC, although they’re AP is good enough to use on BB’s so a lot of people don’t notice. I can not speak on the Algerie, I’m only on La Gallisionaire myself. Edit* I’ve citadeled BB’s with AP from T-61 which is 5”/127mm not the 5.9”/150mm. So I can understand people not realizing the HC is decent.

German 128mm HE doesn't have the greatest alpha or pen, but what's often overlooked is that it has 4% fire chance, same as the 150, and just marginally worse than the Soviets.

That extra point of % makes a decent difference in fire starting. I prefer to use AP on BB’s and target weak spots but from afar where you can not reliable target the weak spots the HC does do fairly well on the DD’s. I’m not to worried about pen when I’m just spamming rounds at max range. That’s a gripe I have with a lot of DD captains, they don’t switch ammo types enough, that’s if they even use their guns. I’ve literally watched a full health US DD get merc’d by an IJN BB that was on maybe 50-200 health because it wanted to torp the BB and refused to fire its guns. 1 maybe 2 salvos anywhere, even into the belt would have killed this thing. Cost us the game

Yeah, my impression as well. With the 150s I used to switch, but the 200s seem pretty on par. Might be able to get a couple citadels with the AP against CLs, but having the right ammo loaded for surprise DDs is usually worth it. Same reason I stick with HE on IJN CAs.

Oh wow, I missed that. Was wondering where the CV went. The RM CAs aren't the most manoeuvrable (comes with the speed, I guess), but with double rudder modules, they can turn reasonably well.

Pretty much the only way is to either pay for it, or get it from the free Blitz Pass, I think. Not sure if some events or league ranks drop it as well. You'll see discounted bundles from time to time, which can get you a decent amount for a reasonably small price.

I only came across it when researching the ship as well, never noticed it before. No idea how widespread the scout planes are going to be, but given that "ship skills" are often a selling point, I'm not sure we'll get choices there :)

@@explorationandhistorywithethan I read the whole comment. I understand you realize scout planes are only implemented in the game. The game mirrors life, I’m talking about life. Cruisers and battleships never had fighters, only scout/spotter planes. 1 or 2 fighters wouldn’t make a difference in an air assault, I’m sure the scout planes were armed to a degree for self defense. Which Iowa is that in your photo? Is that the BB-62 taken from the water?

@@hattrick8684 okay, PC version had fighters, and my picture is of USS Wisconsin. We were supposed to go there in summer 2021 but we never did. I just found picture online and edited it a bit to resemble a cartoon version. It has not yet been finalized and which is why there are black boarders on it.
