to be fair, you can do the same with the Nelson (sans the baguette part, maybe some crumpets instead?) - but when she needs to move, oh boy, she can move. That thing can keep up with Japanese destroyers when the speed boost is active. I'll certainly have some more videos, showing what she's capable of.

Yes, she is. Speed, accuracy, gun layout - very little about her that's weak - armour and relatively low health, so if she gets outflanked, she can be killed relatively easily. Of course, if the player knows what they're doing, they'll reposition :)

Richelieu is one of my favourite ships. Decent AA, fun guns, unique layout, and if you use island cover, you can compensate for the lack of armour quite well.

Yes, she's rock solid. If you play defensive and bow-in, you'd have to work pretty hard not to get 60k dmg at least. Ergot brought up the idea of making a video on how to kill one of those things, so I'll be gathering some footage :)

I've been seriously considering that, but tend to lean towards the deck protection mod, given the prevalence of HE spammers and the rather stationary playstyle. Would be a very valid choice as well, though.

I know, tier 8 premiums don't come cheap. Can't say about the Gascogne - she's a Richelieu class ship, but the only one with a different gun layout. I'll get there eventually. I've only played a couple of rounds in the Dunkerque, but her dispersion has been trolling me pretty hard so far. I'll do a review on her as well.

Lyon is bad.. t8 frenchie is ok.. with both rapid reload commander skills it can dish out dmg in randoms

Nope, I might be a community contributor, but I don't get paid - you get my honest opinions on those :) But I bought this one as well on my private account last time she was on sale. She's one of my "frustration ships", when I need to break a losing streak.

Polar opposite playstyles - Tirpitz is a blunt instrument, needs to get in close to make her work, whereas the Richie is a sharp sword best used from range, and all about positioning. I'll put it on the backlog, should be an interesting video.

Thanks, much appreciated! I have both the Roma and the Richie, but haven't done much with Roma yet. The Richelieu is still an immensely powerful ship. Tier 8 is a very competitive tier, since a lot of players don't regularly go into 9 and 10, and there are heaps of excellent tier 8 BBs out there. Personally, if I want to get a premium (and tier 8 premiums don't come cheap), it's about something unique, something that distinguishes her. The Richie is such a ship - the tech tree French BBs don't get the same layout. She is excellent at holding positions, compensating for her comparatively weak armour with reduced profile, if you play her right, and can rapidly support a push when the time is right, and go brawl. This is one of my favourite ships in the game tbh. But just putting it out there that you can absolutely rule with e.g. the Bismarck in tier 8 as well, and you don't have to pay for that one :)

That's a good question (looks at skull in hand) - so far, I have avoided to Roon, but Hindi would be nice, and lots of folks have asked, so I might Roon soon-ish (I have the XP). Main reason I avoided her so far was the reduced torps, but since then I've figured out a lot more about how to use the 200mm AP effectively. As for French BBs, I'm at the Bretagne, and my success in her squarely depends on the enemy team being stupid, which is not a good thing. Too slow, underpowered guns, short-range secondaries... but now I'm keen to see how the higher tiers go.

Gascogne is very similar to Richelieu, the same secondaries in a better arrangement, same guns in a probably worse arrangement, same armor, same speed, probably same accuracy, one more charge of slightly worse speed boost and two charges of highly unpleasant RR2. Very fun ship.

I'll spend some time with the French BB line at some point. Bit frustrated with high-tier BBs atm, after losing 10 games in a row in the Freddy last night, fighting nothing but Shimas, Yugumos and Fletchers. I need some cruisers to get back into balance :)

she's really easy to do well in, as long as you've got some basic positioning and awareness skills. It's really unfortunate that they chose Gascogne for the tech tree, instead of Jean Bart or Clemenceau - she's the only one of the Richelieu class that has the more conventional turret configuration.

Jean Bart is a t9 premium in pc for some reason.

and Richelieu is the tier 8 tech tree, AFAIR. Which is why I was so confused to see the Gascogne here - the turrent position is even more powerful in Blitz, where we don't have overmatch mechanics.

Yeah, she definitely feels like the later version, they were lacking AA directors even when they did the hasty retreat towards Dakar, and the main guns had some serious issues as well. Her dispersion is pretty good, which is another hint towards the later refits.

Fun and games with Terry the fun starts from T7, the Lyon is very fun to play. Not very strong guns but you’ve got 16 of them 😄 and she is fast: so move around and shell from a distance.

One of the worst problems with the Bretagne is the lack of speed... you get a "speed boost", which increases it from snail pace to positively pedestrian.

In real life they put bulkheads in the middle of the turret so that wouldn’t happen. Dunkerqe was hit by a bomb on the turret and everyone on one side of the turret died while the other side stayed operational.

depends on the country you're in, prices vary slightly. Take a look in the shop - I think I got her from a crate? Can't quite remember. Tier 8 premiums aren't cheap, though - as usual, disclaimer, premium ships aren't going to guarantee victory, it's 90% about the captain skill.
