It's easy to understand, and 0 effort. The only one who puts effort in is the one who discovers the glitches which he did not, he didn't even discover the placement of where to use the glitches. He just mimic someone else's world run and did it seconds faster...

@@yourerightdawg Any% means that you can finish the game at any point. Unrestricted then means that you're not confined to only using fair ways, you use whatever means necessary (and in this regard, glitches) to finish the game quickly.

@@USMC816 Bruh I assure you, you could try to do the zip glitch for a week straight and you wouldn't get it a single time, let alone usefully. You have no idea what you're talking about and you should realize that and just shut up.

some glitches happen random and then speedrunners try to repicate these random clitches and try to optimize them to use efficiently in a run, resulting in even more interesting strategies and shortcuts

Someone originally posted a clip blocking and randomly walking around and they accidentally zipped. So speedrunners did a ton of testing and now we figured out exactly how to replicate it 👍

With these zips it would probably be around 3:20, there is a quicker zip to get to the academy and to the belfries but it's a pretty precise lineup so that could knock about 5 seconds more off if done very quickly.

@@zed6740 Its the teleporting, it's called the zip glitch

This is on 1.04. There are supposedly performance boosts since 1.02, however in 1.05 they made it so swinging mid-air doesn't delay your fall death anymore. So 1.04 is the best patch to run on.

The explanation is that the Elden Beast spawns into the game when he zips to the Erdtree at 4:41. Then when he zips again, he travels so far away that the level despawns - the ground, terrain, etc, are all unloaded. However, the bosses don't despawn, so both Godfrey and the Elden Beast start falling into nothingness and die. When Godfrey dies, he's teleported back to fight Hoarah Loux. Then Elden Beast dies a few seconds later, causing him to be teleported to the ending location.

We zip so far away that the area unloads and the bosses don't so they fall to their death. So Elden Beast is loaded in and so is Godfrey, Godfrey dies first and so that triggers his phase 2 and saves us from fall death. Then Elden Beast falls to its' death soon after. And even if we die after killing Elden Beast, we'll still spawn by Marika.

Definitely can save 5 or 6 more seconds but it would take a lot of grinding! I'll wait til someone beats this time haha

Yes and yes. It's probably something to do with how keyboard keys are not analogue movement input but are either pressed 100% or not at all. The metronome is for timing, the how-to is documented on speedsouls. -Hold the walk (Alt) button while performing the zip. -Begin by pressing block (right mouse button) for 126 frames. -Then, while continuing to hold block, press W for 7 frames. -Do not release walk or block until after the zip.

The teleporter itself is not, that's intended to put you on an unreachable part of farum that you can't get off of. However we use the wrong warp glitch by force quitting the game after using memory of grace, and that allows us to teleport to the default location of whatever area we're in. So that lets me get to the start of farum.

@@iamnotoreo Yea here is the repo for the program github.com/olivera18/ZipHelper The 2nd one is tough, your fps will be pretty unstable in that area and the zip lineup is somewhat precise. You'll want to have your right foot on top of or veeeeery slightly on the right side of a brown dirt patch there where I'm at. I'm a little behind it though because it still works. Then you'll want to aim your compass slightly right of that tree I'm looking at, slightly left of a joint in the stone wall. You can also join the speedsouls discord for more info on this route, there is a zip thread in the ER section.

Normal Any% doesn't allow for zip glitches or force quits (used for the wrong warp)

It's a metronome to help time the zip glitch, W needs to be pressed at a certain point in the guarding animation so the metronome helps a lot.

Yea I usually stream my speedruns and talk, but these runs are not good to do for streams imo since your finger gets tired after a couple hours and the timing becomes less consistent. Better to do them in short 2 hour sessions.

If you shield and then walk forward after a few seconds while standing on specific ledges and looking a certain way you can instantly propel yourself forward a huge distance. This is called zipping. He uses this to get around the map and deloadimg the ground to kill certain bosses. In this run he has 2 goals: kill maliketh, and kill godrfey/elden beast(don’t ask me how he does both)

The different categories are on the official speedrun site: www.speedrun.com/eldenring Any% unrestricted is different from any% because it allows for force-quit wrong warps and the zip glitch. I believe those are the only 2 differences.

I think zip is inconsistent depending on hardware, so any% is restricted to make it fairer to compete in.

It’s a metronome set to a specific bpm that lets him time the teleports easier. I’m not sure how the zips (teleports) themselves work exactly but I think it has something to do with pressing forward during the blocking animation on the exact frame it loops
