There are many fertility-tracking apps available, but Natural Cycles, an app developed in Sweden, has become the first mobile app to be certified as a method of birth control, Sheinelle Jones reports. But a whopping 93 percent of TODAY viewers surveyed say they wouldn’t trust the app.

It’s not about forgetting a to take a pill, it’s about wanting to avoid very common side effects of hormonal contraception such as mood swings, weight gain, depression and increased risk of blood clots

Blah b Oh, good thing that the risk of blood clots is the only downside to hormonal birth control... NOT. Do you really care so little about all the side effects and risks of messing with your endocrine system?

Blah b I literally got every possible side effect of hormonal birth control to the point my doctor was shocked. It was awful. Constant infections terrible skin problems, increased depression, painful sore breasts, lack of ssc drive and constant nausea and vomiting to name a few. On top of that it made my periods last week's sometimes. People act like birth control is a casual thing when it drastically can affect you.

Blah b and on top of that I know a tonne of people who had the implant or were in the pill and still got pregnant. I know of someone who has used multiple firms of birth control and all her kids were conceived while using it .

It’s not healthy to take pills to make your body think it’s pregnant! The Pill was NEVER tested long-term on real women. So many women are misled into thinking they’re without any option, so they stay on it for years, even decades. Fertility isn’t a disease. But the Pill causes real health problems that MDs don’t ever connect with their use. Some girls are on the Pill or Norplant before their endocrine systems are even fully developed. It’s bad medical practice.

Half of abortion patients got pregnant while on the pill. Statistics.

I used the FAM method for 2 years and it worked and then I used it to get pregnant and I got pregnant very quickly on my first try with my husband. It’s more than just the temperature and that’s were people will mess up and make mistakes. You have to be dedicated and I really appreciated and enjoyed learning more about my body in the process.

I’m really excited about this. I’ve had to have surgery for endometriosis, and was told I can never be on regular hormonal birth controls again, apart from an IUD. This doesn’t manipulate your hormones, no side effects

Reading a copy of taking charge of your fertility explains in detail you should follow a method. (Symptothermal is one type of method, taking charge of your fertility teaches this method) it’s important to learn to interpret your data on your own as opposed to blindly trusting the app. Kindara is a wonderful free version fertility tracker. You interpret your own data (temps, cervical fluid, etc)

Natural Cycles is 98% effective when used perfectly - just tracking more than 5 times a week 👍🏼

John doue Quebec natural cycles and the Daysy aren’t based on the calendar method. They are “NFP/FAM” based, but focus solely on basal body temp tracking, which pinpoints ovulation and shows when the fertile window is. The calendar method (also the rhythm method) just guesses ovulation based on when your period ends, which is incredibly unreliable because ovulation can fluctuate and you can’t just guess it each month
