"When we started publishing the first results on carbon reinforced concrete at that time, we were smiled at. It is nonsense. The topic will be off the table in three years", Manfred Curbach remembers. That was in 1998. Now 22 years later, despite the difficult current situation, the world's first building made entirely of carbon reinforced concrete is being built on the campus of the TU Dresden. "It is a quantum leap in the history of civil engineering."

Interesting is to compare the different fibre reenforced concrete types... What are the pros and cons vs. basalt fibres? What are the pros and cons vs. using shotcrete with steel, PP, or basalt fibres? Isn`t the use of carbon fibres and as well aramid fibres not preferred for military usage?

Very awesome but you’ll need some insulation which will make it thick again 😂😭😭😭 architecture is hard. I’m kidding, it can be that thin provided you find the correct site.

I say combine the carbon nanotubes with volcanic ash for concrete to save the environment even more. You'll get to mesh new school material with old school technique exactly how the Romans built their ever lasting structures.

Steel fails too above a certain temperature.

Yes it does oxidized but slowly even at high temps. It is the highest melting element so that why they make crucibles out of them. They don’t degrade in temp however the concrete and polymer would break down soon so I imagine testing would need to be done.
