Matt hasn't held us up, we just left the dash wires long enough to work with all the possibilities. The HVAC system will be under the console. There are 2 bulkhead connectors on the firewall. Thankfully the only CANBUS this will have is on the Holley system.

It’s a big challenge but it’s in the best of conditions. Everything is wide open… you aren’t snaking thru crud.. or hung on rotted clamping pads and such. Ya get to lay it out for future changes and repairs. I see the way Chad is doing it old school… with PEN & PAPER .. so the mapping isn’t crazy guessing or monotonous meter and bell continuity checks

Chad, I am thoroughly enjoying every second of your wiring videos, beginning with the "Golden Nugget". I've done similar work throughout my career. I've found that it's sometimes easier to make a "Harness Board", a 2D arrangement of the needed wiring harness, with all of the dimensions for each branch laid out on a board with guide pins positioned on each side of the harness route along the board. The pins can be just large finishing nails driven into the board on each side of the harness route and at the point of the branches, but a search for "Harness Board Nails" will bring up sources of headless nails for making harness boards that are a bit more "user friendly on fingers and wire insulation" , plus some other accessories, like holders to keep the wire ends in the bundles together. Once the board is built, the completed harness can then be assembled quickly on a table, rather than climbing through the vehicle to determine the length and route for each wire one at a time. A harness board like this sometimes helps to save considerable time when doing a complicated harness like this, but it can be a great time saver, if you will need to make several identical or near identical harnesses. You will still need to use some temporary ties like your Velcro strips, while assembling the harness on the harness board, but you will need to use far less of them, and running the wires from point to point between the nails/pins will produce a harness very rapidly. Then it becomes a more simplified matter of adding the connectors/wire terminations, etc. which can also be done at the harness board on the bench, if you measured the branch of the harness accurately, before putting it into the vehicle/machine. I frequently used a seamstress's tape measure when measuring the distances between connectors and branches of the harness route, drawing the harness shape (not critical) and point to point dimensions in a schematic/wiring diagram type drawing of the harness route as I take the measurements. Then it becomes a relatively simple job to build the harness board on a piece of plywood from the general shape and dimensions collected when I was measuring for the harness. I always make long ends on the branches to assure that there will be enough wire to reach the needed points, 6-12" inches is usually enough, but you seem to already be doing that. Labeling both ends of each wire as they are installed in the harness helps, but you already seem to be doing that too. Even just a wire number on both ends unique to that wire, to start with, and add the names/use later at connector install time, simplifies the job. The little computerized label makers that are designed for printing wire labels work very well for this, and the labels have very permanent printing on them. I have this one www.cableorganizer.com/categories/cable-identification/label-printers/bmp-21-label-printer/ I wish I was there and working with you. I always loved doing this. Most of my career was spent designing, building, modifying large scale automation for manufacturing. EE by trade, but I did everything. But I'm almost Ed's age now and not healthy enough to work any longer.

I seem to remember working on something at one time (either in the military over 40 years ago or in aviation a bit later) where all the wiring was the same color and there was something like heat shrink tubing on the ends that was white and had a number on it... The schematics would have those numbers on it and the technical reference manual had a table that said what a particular wire number was for... I think the numbers were written on the heat shrink tubing before it had been installed and once installed and subjected to heat, the number height would decrease as the heat shrink tubing shrunk... I had completely forgotten about that until I saw all the colors that were in your wiring harnesses...

When I was a kid, 1970's I was a aircraft wiring troubleshooter on F-4's. We would use a piece of plywood and use nails and pegs to form a template for the wires to run around to form our wire bundles. As we got more sophisticated we used pegboards for layout. F-4's in Southeast Asia were always getting corrosion problems and wire bundles were 20-30 feet long with a lot oof branches coming off.

Wow such a big job you got yourself into. I think he had you there a little too soon since none of the dash components are not installed yet and the floor and firewall hasn't been sound proofed and painted. You are a smart man to be able to do such complicated work so well. Matt is lucky to know you.

Nice wiring job, looks like a lot of fun. but layout and planning is the key to success and it looks like you got it under control.

I think you guys get the wiring jobs because you can read a schematic … lol I enjoy all your vids especially when your working with Matt, Robbie and Paul.

That job takes vision. Always amazing how much Chad knows and better yet, remembers! FYI, Internationals of that era used fabric covered wiring. :)

With wire carts (and racks on shop walls) I've always found it helpful to run alternate spools from the top and bottom. That way, when you're drawing off wire the adjacent, unused spools don't unwind.

Best place for the fuel gauge is in the glove box. He doesn’t need to see it 😂

Some one mentioned puting in a low fuel alert for Matt. They should use a shock collar probe connected to the seat, the lower the fuel level the stronger the alert

I’ve said it before and I will say it again, it should have had a side tilting cab :o) And then it wouldn’t have to be unplugged every time the gearbox needs access. Lovely job on the wiring install ^-^
