World's Tallest Outdoor Elevator

5 жыл бұрынThis is the Bailong Elevator, the world’s tallest outdoor lift, which is located deep in the Zhangjiaji National Forest Park in China.
It is claimed to be the highest and heaviest outdoor elevator in the world, standing at 326 m or 1,070 ft, and holds the Guinness World Record for the world’s tallest outdoor lift.
The upper 171 m section of the glass elevator, is above ground and built on the side of a cliff, and gives passengers a spectacular view over the area's massive sandstone pillar formations, with the tallest reaching heights of more than 3,000 feet.
The name Bailong Elevator, translates literally to Hundred Dragons Elevator.
► Q. What is the difference between Lift & Elevator? - They are the same thing. Lift is British English and Elevator is American English.

@@pjf2675 thank you it was. The freaky part is that I didn't know that the bottom 10 floors or so went into the side of the mountain, so I was looking out and seeing the rock face getting closer and closer and we weren't slowing down and then we just went into the mountain. My heart skipped a beat.

Just saw this on an engineering show. Very cool. Especially that they couldn't use any heavy machinery due to the remote location. I'm scared AF of heights, so I'll just watch from here 😁

On the one hand, you have something like this, with no doubt multiple redundant safety features, as it's a tourist attraction in of its own right, admist various waterfalls, and pools that you can swim in ... Even high end, die-cast, scale models of, say, trucks, and mobile cranes, are incredible, due to precise molding, and even painting

I have a weird relationship with heights that I cannot even explain myself. When I am in a safe space, ie a plane, an elevator, behind full face glass or cage then I LOVE to be high up! I enjoy it immensely. BUT... When I am in a balcony, or a bridge, or near the edge of a cliff ie a place that doesnt offer full protection, I shiver and I simply crawl on four legs lmao. For example in this case i would be thrilled to go into that elevator and I would enjoy the ride. But the moment I reach the top and you get me over to that balcony, I'll stay 10 meters away from it... Crazy no?

That's the Yosemite of Asia..... although I wonder about the lack of case to make it blend to the surrounding area and leaving the metal trusses exposed.... A simple plastic cover with a rock pattern would've hide the steel structure

The haze from the pollution is so tragic. This vid shows the haze so clearly. The visibility is so cut down. November is a good time to visit as the air conditioners are shut off and the heaters have not yet fired. So many power plants are still off line for the first two weeks. So much less haze but, sadly, still there...

Mountain gondolas in Europe they use large plastic containers filled with water to weigh them down so bricks are not so bad.

it's not on top, it's a double decker elevator, so they are inside it, in the top elevator car, they probably were using that elevator to transport bricks up for a small renovation. that's my guess.

I have been to China. Beautiful people. No druggies camped out in the streets or parks. The infrastructure is light years ahead of the US. Subways super clean and run on time ,When I can I will go back and stay a month traveling , so much to see. Zero Graffiti And the people love Americans

@Teemu M. - To answer your question, it's just little old me, I was not happy about the music either, but I spent hours trying to find a chinese bamboo flute song from the music website I am a member of, but they did not have anything I liked that married up to the edit. (besides, music is subjective, regardless how you feel about the music I choose, there will be some that like it and some that don't) I would ask you what's wrong with my narration, but regardless of answer, there is nothing I can do to improve on it, it's the best it's going to get.

EPIC_Threads - Ebb & Flod from Epidemic website I looked & tried for hours to do a Chinese bamboo flute type music, but nothing I liked seemed to marry up with the edit, so i gave up and used this song.
