@@Super-Shafs Polish resistance was the biggest resistance force in Nazi occupied Europe, the Warsaw Uprising was the biggest urban uprising in the history of Europe. You may ask why was the Warsaw uprising not successful then? The answer is pretty simple, allies in the west rushed to help the resistance in Paris while USSR simply stooped at the gates of Warsaw and waited until the Home Army will be destroyed by Nazis, because Stalin considered both the Polish Home Army and the Nazi Germany enemies of the state.

@@vova64778 point of the matter is, Russia essentially is literally unconquerable unless you get a HOI4 console command so it gives you infinite manpower and factories. First, Russia is so damn big that you need millions of troops to conquer everything, because this land means the average Russian mentality isn't to surrender once St.Petersburg or Moscow falls. They have so much men as well that they have the Urals protecting Siberia from any European invasion and the Far East to defend from Japanese/Chinese attacks means they can just move their economy to Siberia just like what they actually did in WWII. The people of the Soviet Union/Russia are also people who are willing to throw themselves upon meatgrinders to save their own people, again like in WWII. So yeah, unless you have HOI4/AOC2/any other strategy game, then chances are that even today's Russia is pretty unconquerable.

Most of them were Serbian Partisans, not really Yugoslav. Only the Slovenes and the Serbs actually fought against the Axis. Since Serbia and Slovenia were actually occupied while Greater Croatia(including Muslims), greater Bulgaria, Greater Hungary and Greater Albania were created on Serbian territories. And as you can see from the map, the uprisings were almost exclusively on Serb-inhabited territory.

@Jeb Bush It's not about the "countries", most of those borders are artificial anyway. Partisans operated in almost exclusively Serb-inhabited areas of Yugoslavia. It's not just because the Serbs were the majority of Yugoslavia, but it's because the Serbs were the only anti-Axis force in Yugoslavia. Every other people was an ally to Hitler and had irredentist goals achieved under Hitler. Albanians and Croats and Muslims even had their own SS divisions.

Absolutely amazing video mate! I absolutely love how you cite all your sources and display events in the bottom right! Excellent video mate and you deserve SOOOOO much more praise for your efforts. This had to be painstaking to throw together simply by addressing all the sources you used. However I am glad you prioritized accuracy over quality to get that perfect mix of both. I also love your usage of footage in the top left (especially Blitzkrieg whom I am a huge fan of!) Anyways, thanks for the video and I playlisted

Thanks! I did not organize a list of my sources until the very end of this project (a lesson which I have learned not to repeat in the future), and since then I have added a few sources onto the Google Doc I have of my sources, that I have come across, which I had forgotten to add in the original Source description for this video. KZfaq will not let me add much more characters to the video description, so here is the link to my google docs for sources, which I update: docs.google.com/document/d/1bFP6K9KUDq-piiysunjUNfe4NARTQ_f6mrEkINIq4zI/

this is much better than most of the world war 2 timeline maps video animation I've ever seen, superior quality, having some ww2 footages showing in the background, detailed (shows Yugoslav partisans), perfect background music overall 10/10 I really hope you do more videos like the cold war or the middle eastern conflicts in the 50s for example. It really helped me to teach about world war 2 in my history class, post more videos, make a patron account and I'll be sure to support your work in any way I can!

Well, they did jointly invade Iran with the British. At first they just demanded that Iran allowed some Allied forces in, in order to allow Allied supplies and Lend Lease to enter the Soviet Union via Iran. When Iran refused, then the Soviets and British used force, although resistance was not fierce and Iran did not have a strong or modern military

Translation of what Hitler says from 1:54 onwards: "The people's war, and their hate for each other, it is fueled by a certain kind of people. It is a small, rootless, international group, which agitates people, forces them against each other, does not want them to rest. It is the group of people that do not have a home! Those that don't have a homeland where they come from, but they can live in Berlin, they can be in Brussels by tommorow, in Paris the day after, and then in Prague, and then in Vienna, and then in London, and they feel at home everywhere! They are the only ones, that can be really called International, because they go about their business everywhere!" He is, propably, talking about Jews, despite not saying it.

Hello! My name is kiril Burinskij. My great great grandmother which I got to see, was a partisan in 1941 to 1944 in the USSR.She recieved a red Cross medal for this. She stole information from the German nazi occupiers and sent them off to the front line. My great grandad was a pilot, and throughout the war he received 2 red stars/crosses for destroying over 20 planes throughout the war. My other great grandad was a soldier who fought in Stalingrad, sadly passed away after being shot multiple times with a machine gun. My great grandma lived with the partisans in forests, she had no food no clothes nothing, but what she was left in. She survived freezing temperatures with barely any clothes. She was starving due to a lack of food after Germans burned all the supplies and villagers in a church. She is still alive today and tells me everything about the war, she is 84 years old. She sadly can not walk, as after the war, due to the freeze, her legs were strongly affected. My other great grandad lived in the Kavkaz, he survived after my great great grandma hid him in a bucket, whilst she was sent of to be killed along with his sister and brother. He is also still alive today, but sadly has cancer. I unfortunately did not get enough time to ask all questions I had to my other ancestors who passed away. My message to you is, find out everything about your history, it is so interesting. respect the elders, we are the last generation to see them. That's my story.

Good map. Technical point: "Frankenreich" is the German word for the medieval Frankish Empire (of Charlemagne), not France or Nazi German-occupied France. The Armistice of 1940 divided France into occupied and unoccupied zones. "Vichy France" administered the whole (both), the administration was not divided, though in the occupied zone it was subject to the German military. The main reason for this odd result is that Germany wanted to deny France's big colonial empire to the Allies while preserving the nominal option of deploying troops to it. This required preservation of the French administration as Germany had no way of projecting power into that overseas empire (no way of doing it themselves) even after defeating France in Europe. The main short-term beneficiary was Japan, which of course could project power into Indochina, though invading Indochina beginning in September 1940 critically damaged Japan's already poor relationship with the United States. In May 1941, Germany proved unable to use French control of Syria to prevent Britain from quickly crushing the pro-Axis revolt in Iraq. Britain then immediately invaded Syria, and though France resisted strongly, Britain quickly took complete control and soon installed a Free French administration. In November 1942, the Allies landed in North Africa in Operation "Torch" and France resisted only weakly. Immediately what little reason remained Hitler to continue this arrangement totally disappeared and he decided to try to grab the French Mediterranean fleet. He then launched Case "Anton" to occupy of the whole, making Vichy France truly just a puppet state. France anticipated this, was prepared to fight the occupation at Toulon, and scuttled the fleet, rendering it useless to Germany.

You missed one thing though, Free France didn’t come from Syria although the Brits did install it there as well but some French under Charles De Gaulle in some colonies in Africa resisted Nazi occupation and started their Free French capital at Brazzaville! Later the Brits liberated Syria as it was a Vichy colony and the Germans could pour troops there to capture British oil colonies!

This is amazing work! You even included the movements of Yugoslav partisans too! Do you consider the Winter War as part of WWII? Some mapmakers like Emperortigerstar don't but include it anyway. I assume you consider the Continuation War and Lapland War to be part of WWII right? Do you consider the Greco-Italian War and the Italian Civil War to be part of WWII? I've never heard them referred to by those names.
@nicoiannacone6464
@nicoiannacone6464 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! And yes I do consider the Winter War, the Continuation War, the Lapland War, the Greco-Italian War, and the Italian Civil War all to be part of WWII. The Italian Civil War occurred at the same time as the Allied Italian Campaign. Although it was the Germans who were the main opponents of the Allies in Italy, the Fascist German puppet state called the Italian Social Republic (ISR) did have some soldiers defect to their side from the Royal Italian Military, the most prominent of which was Italian Field Marshal Rodolfo Graziani; and they did raise their own divisions who did indeed fight on the battlefield. The Kingdom of Italy did join the Allies in October of 1943 and they did provide a good amount of troops to fight against the Germans/ISR throughout the rest of the war. As for the Greco-Italian War, most people may just call it the Italian invasion of Greece, however that only lasted for a few days and the Greeks did push them back and invade southern Albania. It remained mostly in stalemate for the next few months with some minor action, until the Germans bailed out the Italians by invading Greece in April of 1941.

Señor Donald Trump kind of true but not so simple. Language, religions and nationality were not the main factors back then as they have been in the war of the early 90´s. Political belief was a big factor, if you felt communist, fascist, monarchist, republican or anarchist was a much bigger reason to join one side or the other than the language you spoke. Remember that Tito was Croat ...
