Are we just going to overlook that the LeafWings have loads of advanced tactical equipment from their home turf? They have paralysis blow darts, painstaking bullet ants, sleep gas flowers, energy renewal herbs, and probably loads of other natural gadgets they got during their time in the poison jungle. And Sundew demonstrated all these uses in her handy satchel like a professional. Plus the LeafWings have shown that they know how to go all out with their resources. They only needed a tiny bit of flamesilk to burn down an entire hive because they knew where to put their flammable materials to get the whole thing set ablaze. Not to mention they infiltrated the hives several times while everyone else still thought they were extinct. That takes some incredible planning and maneuvering.

And despite all that, they still lost to the Hivewings. Maybe they've improved their military since the Tree Wars but I feel like they probably developed the weaponry they currently use during the Tree Wars itself.

@@JadeMountainArchive I think the poison jungle was pretty much empty of dragon civilization until the LeafWings had to hide there after losing in the tree wars, and only then were they able to discover all these unique resources and equipment to use as their own. If they went against the HiveWings again, I think the results would be different.

@@TrickyTalon23 I agree I think the LeafWings should be higher on this list (though I did enjoy the video). You have good reasoning, the LeafWings probably didn't discover their natural weapons until after the Tree Wars. 2 points! 1) SeaWings can see in the dark, so a nighttime offense against non-fire breathing dragons (eg RainWings) would likely be devastating if they don’t somehow see it coming. 2) SkyWings are masters in aerial combat - so if we are talking about battling in high wind speed mountain tops, ambushing another army from their home kingdom or chasing a retreating battalion (since they are the fastest fliers by far as well as having a ranged weapon that isn’t affected by gravity, like frost breath is) they would have a very dominant upper hand.

I just looked at the map for Pyhria and realized that Seawings have direct routes to the Skywing Palace through the Diamond Spray Delta, a river that goes through the Mudwing Kingdom and ends right at the rainforest kingdom. That would allow them to at least secure one kingdom with little to no effort before other tribes caught on and dammed their rivers. Icewings also have a similar river that would bring them right to the Sandwing palace. So that kind of changes my view on Seawing viability in WW WOF.

Late to this comment but, people also seem to forget that Skywings, Sandwings and another tribe that I forgot have farther sight than most. This could be useful in less dense areas for spotting overall. Another point for skywings is that their scales are jewel-hard as said in the wiki, which would stand against many tribes that rely on face-to-face combat such as Icewings, Seawings, Mudwings, Nightwings? And Silkwings (their tails and claws) In my opinion, I think that Skywings have the best genetic lottery. The third point is that Skywings surprisingly have better cold resistance than any other tribe (besides yk who), and are also capable of “saving” up their fire inside their throats until the maximum temperature, which I can assume is well over 500 Celsius. Skywings are also obviously said to be the faster fliers in all of the dragon world due to their massive wingspan and heavy endurance. Not to mention the fact that their stamina outlives other tribes, especially midair. If Skywings are pushed back to their kingdom, no worries, as Skywings grow their own crops in the Sky kingdom, it may not be the most ideal compared to Seawings and Rainwings having their own specialised foods that other tribes rarely eat; but compared to tribes with little to no food at all (staring at Icewings), Skywings are pretty decent. Skywings~~ ear’s are said to be sharper when flying. Again, being the god of aerial combat, will give them a higher advantage if others care to ambush. In Winter turning I think, Pyrite said that Skywings were loyal to one-another yet still independent when needed, giving the tribe a low chance of containing a traitor. Most info is harvested from the Skywing wiki, but in summary Skywings are just the best bois

Okok but referring to Rainwing venom as 'magic death spit' caught me off guard but mixing humor with a lot of logic and information always keeps me entertained. That evil laugh too! Still makes me think we haven't gotten rid of Teal though... Also, I have an argument. (I'm sorry, but this is going to be a lot) The Rainwings are passive and lazy, as he said. (Probably) the main reason they're passive and lazy is because of the bounty the rain forest provides for them. Unlike the Leafwings, their environment is kind to them. They do half the work other dragons, such as Sandwings and Skywings, do to even survive with their terrain. Since they shouldn't be in any state of losing the rain forest, they would still maintain their chill but oblivious nature. And since the other tribes have learned how to survive, they are more adapted to life-threatening situations. Even though the Rainwings could easily camouflage to avoid being spotted by other tribes, the other tribes could find other ways to find them. And since the Rainwings don't have a battling mindset, their venom would only prove wasted unless they can somehow find a way to get into a survival instinct. Even if they could, the Hivewings have already dealt with this situation and will probably think of burning down the forest, which is easy enough with the 3 (4?) fire-possessing tribes. With their home and natural habitat gone and no experience of any sort of lethal situations, they probably will die of thirst or hunger, or one of the tribes will get them first. Who do I think wins then? idk man. My mind's blank after that paragraph of information.

It's certainly a possibility! I was wondering how their relaxed nature would develop over the next 200 years. In Darkstalker's time they were very much an active tribe in the military sense so I feel like it's not necessarily the case that the rainforest provides enough to keep them lazy. It may be a combo of having extra resources and not having other tribes infringing on their borders. I'm not sure, but I definitely think once the war started (and included them in it), they'd end up whipping themselves into shape if they weren't already (especially with Glory now at their head - I think they're going in a good direction).

I kinda agree. The big thing I noticed about the Rainwings is how passive most of them are due to not having any real threats in their environment. The point that I would like to add to this is that they could set up a tripwire, that when activated, dropped a dragonflame cactus (or whatever the bomb one is)(grown by leafspeak) onto a piece of flamesilk, which would blow up the dragon they set it up on. In addition, they could use regular silk as a fuse, and throw dragonflame cacti like grenades.

I do think that if the RainWings and LeafWings were to have a battle between them (no other tribes involved) then I think the LeafWings would win against the RainWings. They could turn the Rainforest against the RainWings with their Leafspeak, and the RainWings would be completely unprepared for the Poison Jungle- but in open combat- perhaps not. The HiveWings would also have a very strong chance against the RainWings, as it has been shown (via the flamesilk lanterns) that they have discovered and invented glass. They could easily invent venom resistant armour (like the NightWings) and could win against the RainWings. Interesting video though!

I mean yes hivewings could get armor but other then that however they are sorta just dead. Thier claws are super duel, they are rather skinny and weak and they haven’t thought for themselves for years (queen wasp) so they would probably make a lot of mistakes during fights. In 200 years, if you say in that time the leafwings invented acid proof armor as your excuse for them to stand a minimal chance against them. You are grasping at straws. The leafwings do not invent nor use glass, the hive wings do. The leafwings can not and will not use fire to forge as it is quite literally their worst enemy. Also armor made of glass has to be the dumbest idea ever. Anything organic is consumed by their acid spit, and the leafwings ALONG with the forest would not be able to detect them. Only the silk wings have a chance of detecting them. Another point to consider is that the leadwings “high tech” weaponry is bugs and chemicals which could be burned away by acid as well, and would need a target. Since the forest itself is organic, the magical death spit would work on literally everything in the forest along with the forest itself

Edit: Ok, uh I totally forget the second rule you established at the beginning of the video while writing this 🥲 Some of my points probably don't hold up as well because of this rule, but I still think they can be somewhat applied. Honestly, I think SkyWings would be able to overpower the RainWings easily. Sure, RainWings may have powers such as venom and camouflage, but most modern-day RainWings have never used these powers for combat... Meanwhile, SkyWings are adept fighters and probably have one of the most effective, organized militaries in Wings of Fire. I don't think the RainWings even _have_ a standing military right now 😅 HiveWings and IceWings would also probably be stronger contenders, I believe. Both of these tribes are very organized and have much more war experience as well (the HiveWings even won their war). Plus, they have abilities that rival RainWing venom; HiveWings have their own venom and IceWings have devastating frostbreath. Plus, as you mentioned, the IceWings could retreat back to their kingdom without the threat of an invasion looming over their heads. RainWings were a very isolated tribe until recently, too. They do not seem to have caught up with the advancements the other tribes have made and likely do not have the resources the other tribes have gained through involved activities such as trading. Additionally, RainWing venom can only corrode organic material. This means that their venom would be virtually useless against an armored opponent. The core belief of passivism many RainWings embrace would also hinder their performance in war. Most RainWings can't bring themselves to hunt prey and could never imagine using their venom as a weapon. If RainWings remained as menacing and prominent as they were suggested to be in Darkstalker's era, I think they'd put up a much better fight. Right now, though, unless Glory can whip them into shape PRONTO, I seriously doubt they would last long in a world war.

Just some counter arguments: you didn't consider stratigic placement for some of the tribes (mudwings, rainwings nightwings, silkwings, hivewings, leafwings) the list would be quite different. The mudwings would be lower as they are sandwiched between 3 major competitors. Sandwings and skywing front lines would be spread thin due to their massive borders, allowing icewings to be dominant in the North. Rainwings are up there but half of the other tribes have dragons to counter them. (albeit somewhat rare) Icewings and skywing militaries are easily the most advanced, giving a sizeable edge. Icewings and seawings can also return to their home to regroup if things get tough. The rainforest which the rainwings and nightwings live in gets burnt by even 1 firescale so there goes 2 tribes. The pantalan dragons are quite low as they didn't evolve and adapt to resist temperature to any major degree so almost every pyrrian tribe hard counters them. I feel as though you ranked via dragon physiology by itself which is valid for a battle royale but in war strategic placement is very much more important. My list would be: icewings>Sandwings>nightwings>skywings>rainwing>seawings>hivewing>mudwing>leafwing>silkwing>scavengers

Interesting points and I really like the consideration of the placement of tribes! I mostly ignored this for two reasons: (1) It gets weird considering how the war would play out given that three of the competitors are on an entirely separate continent. That would absolutely have an impact on how the war progressed and it was just not something I had the time to really dive into. (2) I think we'd have to start taking theorizing about alliances. My guess is that the Icewings and the Sandwings would start an alliance as neither tribe would particularly want to invade the others' space as a first move (Sandwings don't like cold and Icewings don't like heat much) but they share borders with a common enemy in the Skywings. The Skywings would have to find allies to hold them off, so they might team up with Mudwings/Seawings for a while. The Nightwings and Rainwings would likely be allies of necessity given that they share living space - if one tribe goes down, they probably both do. And so on... It's really fun to think about though so I'm glad you brought this up!

@@JadeMountainArchiveRainwings and Nightwings would likely be Allies, this is a long time after arc 3 so the nightwings could have found a new Queen and moved away, but they still owe the Rainwings and many Nightwings would have family/friends in the other tribe. Rainwings + Nightwings = destruction. I also find Leafwings to be my favourite tribe (I am Bias bc I love Sundew.), but I believe they would be higher on the list considering their knowledge on plants and animals, they have deadly insects, deadly plants, leafspeakers, and obviously a very independent and resilient nature. Mine would’ve been Rainwing>Nightwings>Icewing>Sandwing>Hivewing>Leafwing>Mudwing>Skywing>Seawing>Silk wing

My money would be on either Icewings due to their defensible position and frost breath, Nightwings due to their technological advancements and clairvoyance, or Rainwings for their plethora of abilities. I’d say Hivewings also stand a chance for a similar reason. Seeing as the Rainwings and Nightwings are currently one tribe, WWWOF would be an absolute curb stomp, with only Seawings and Icewings possibly surviving. Although, the Icewings can hold their breath for hours at a time, so they might be able to take out the Seawings.
@word6344
@word6344 Жыл бұрын
Although Icewings can hold their breath for hours, any significant activity like fighting will drain one's oxygen supply much faster than just passively drifting on an underwater current. But the biggest barrier is actually the immense pressure of deep ocean. Icewings likely can't withstand pressure for as long as a seawing can, because icewings don't normally spend that much time down there. Or worse, they rise from deep ocean too quickly, and experience a condition called "the bends", in which the air kept dissolved in blood by pressure forms bubbles in the blood. This causes a wide range of symptoms depending on where the bubbles are. An icewing army, even returning from a successful underwater battle, could be crippled by this condition. How would icewings fight underwater? How does frostbreath work underwater?
@crazycryo5856

The bends would be problematic, but the Icewing pair in Darkstalker made it all the way from the Ice Kingdom to the Night Kingdom, meaning they can still hold their breath for a long time even while engaging in physical activity.

Though it probably would not change the tier of any tribes, silkwings could be a counter to rainwings: in “Flames of Hope,” Wasp uses a Silkwing to track the locations of invisible dragons, one being a rainwing. The thing about that skirmish was that the silkwing and hivewings were in the hive mind, so Wasp could take information from the silkwing and control the hivewings to attack. The problem with the silkwings themselves fighting rainwings is that they don’t have any natural weapons apart from flamesilk, and like firescales, they can’t just make an army of them. So unless they developed artificial weapons like the leafwings of nightwings did, which could happen, but we have no insight to two hundred years to the future and can’t assume anything like that. Really interesting video, and this is actually something I’ve kinda thought about, though not on the scale of all the tribes, but on small conflicts and skirmishes.

This wouldn't be a huge change for the outcome, but it would definitely lower the Icewings' chances of winning by a fair bit. And the Leafwings only lost to the hivewings in a gradual attack they didn't realise was happening- And they aren't gonna make that mistake again, so....

I love this analysis and I think you did a fantastic job pointing out each tribe's strengths and weaknesses! I have never thought about a WoF world war but now that you have brought it up, I'll definitely be giving it thought. I think it would be interesting if you also included not only the tribes' physical abilities but also their tribe setups. Like for the MudWings, they would physically not be as high up as say, the SandWings. But if you took account how they structure their armies that would change everything. I think that in one of the books someone stated that the MudWings were excellent fighters and that was partly because of their 'sib' system. This would also be fun to dive into because we got a hint from Fjord (when he was fighting Clay) that IceWings train somewhat in other tribe combat techniques. Again, I love this WoF WW idea and all of your other analysis videos! Keep doing amazing work and being an overall great person!

Ok its time to go way too serious with this comment. Here we go! The Hivewings would probably win the war. This is why. Pantala is so isolated from the rest of the tribes, an the other tribes on the continent (i.e. the Silkwings and Leafwings) have weaksauce powers and are crippled by lackluster geography. The Leafwings might seem tough but even if there was trees covering the whole continent, you could always just burn them out. Silkwings are trash lol. This means that the Hivewings could own an entire continent with ease early into the war. And due to Pantala's isolation, they'd by hard to mess with. The Hives would be fortresses that repelled attacks with sheer number of soldiers in a single area. With enough patrolls, no other tribe could touch this continent. Not to mention if they start forcing the other two tribes to serve them, which would make them even stronger (think Silkwing antennae, which could spot invisible rainwings, for example) The Hivewings could probably conquer the other tribes without too much trouble. Their kit might SEEM bad and unreliable, but their diversise assortment of powers would actually be a blessing in war. More options allows for more unique stratagies, more areas they can tackle. Tail venom is op too. Also they aren't bad even without powers: they have very controlled flight and they have always been a very orginized tribe. Combine the Hivewings OP toolset of assorted abillities, complete geographic isolation, and weak foes they could easily subdue, and a very orginized society, the Hivewings could take on the rest of the world. Also side note if they use the Breath of Evil they'd be even more op because they'd basically be the only tribe with a way to get orders from far away. Also also side note they have the best tech too: that might not mean much, but it is the cherry on top.

Different from what was said is that one Leafwing with mid to powerful leafspeak would only need one flora covered field to do massive amounts of damage. Seawings, as said likely wouldn't get taken completely out. Different from what said is that they could wait for all of the others to weaken each other and then simply clean up the survivors.

I wouldn’t say Rainwings would use their venom as their philosophy is that they use it peacefully, Nightwings 200 years from now would probably have recovered and become a superpower as they also have mind reading and vision, being in the rainforest after all. Rainwings do have blow-darts which makes the Rainwings a powerful threat. Icewings and Seawings are really isolated but self sufficient due to infinite food supply in these kingdoms (The hole where Icewings can get any sort of food). Sandwings can also go a long time without food, which can really be effective during times of war. Hivewings have special abilities as well they can easily wipe out the Silkwings, not so much as the Leafwings, but can reassure dominance in the Pantalan Continent. Here is what I think would win the Pyrriha Theatre: Rainwings:First Icewings Seawings Icewings Nightwings Sandwings Mudwings Skywings: Last
@chronicwasp

SkyWings being last is just complete bullsh*t. They may not have many abilities but they can use the ones they do have very effectively. They have the hottest fire of any tribe, and being able to fly faster and longer is a huge advantage. They could fly away if being attacked and they are unable to win, which is pretty unlikely since they are very powerful fighters. I mean, ex-queen Scarlet snapped dunes neck like a pretzel. They could also chase a retreating battalion, and kill all the soldiers before they got back to their kingdom. I'd put SkyWings in between IceWings and SeaWings.

Fjord even said icewings learned mudwing foughting techniques for battle 2 Skywings - Again skill over powers, skewing were some of the deadliest fighters as queen scarlet shrewd through her enemies. Skywings can survive any climate including the ice kingdom 3 Hivewings - there Rainwings but better, and there knowledge and development in society could pose a threat 5 Leafwings - in poison jungle the seem to use there environment to their advantage, by knowing there sortounding they could use it to there advantage, sundew and mandrake have pretty strong leafspeak and are very skilled with it. In 200 years they would be a power house 6 Mudwings - They said they were focused dragons and always on task, while I don’t think they could compete they could certainly be a treat 7 Seawings - nothing here to mention LOL 8 Rainwings - why do people put them so high, they have no skill or intelligence, they would lose a war quickly if it weren’t for glory, and glory still can’t make Rainwings skillful 9 Nightwings - the chance of a dragon being born on a moon is unlikely especially since there are few nightwings, also they have less skill and they are to weak to fight a war, why did they plan a war for 18 years to takeover that rainforest, because they are in a weak position 10 Silkwings - there pacifists Edit. The RainWings are seriously strong, all they need is actual interest in fighting. XD But even an army that's twice larger than theirs would lose to RainWing venom and "strategy"-camounflage (so quallity>quantity may work, it's even proven in the WW1). The SkyWings would mostly depend on firescales or high altitudes to win a battle, since not all tribes have the strenght their wings have to flying as high. SeaWings are strong around water, where they can "bend" it or have enemies drown, other than that they can only use their claws. I feel like the MudWings are intimidating in stature which, you know, fair, but they're really afraid of frostbreath and they could probably fight the SeaWings underwater for only an hour or less. Overall, interesting video! :D Such a war would be interesting to see.

Since this takes place hundreds of years in the future (and since the rainwings are currently under new management), I think it's possible they're willing to start using it again. My personal take is that... NightWings are tactical, have the night advantage if they care to, but are right next to RainWings. RainWings can blend in, but aren't militarized, so they'd probably just survive but not take many dragons out. SkyWings could outlast the others in a game of aerial endurance and seem pretty likely to get somewhere, not win but get a bit of headway. SilkWings are generally pacifists, but could probably use their silk to some advantage. HiveWings seem to have a very organized society. During Wasp's era, I feel like they could win with one dragon puppeteering them all. Otherwise though... probably not. LeafWings, as people have said, are very tactical and have good tech for wartime, so I think that they could definitely win. SeaWings could just swim to sea to regroup or do basically anything. It's not a hard contest for pure endurance, but could they win on land? Not really--they don't have fire or anything useful outside of water besides a strong tail. MudWings could hide, and close-knit bonds would definitely help with individual groups, but they don't really seem to have much going for then besides that. SandWings have venom in their tails, but there is an antidote. They can also breathe fire, but don't seem to have much tribal loyalty beyond normal. Meh. IceWings can live up north and do have claws and frostbreath. This makes them pretty likely winners as well, because of their combo offense and ability to retreat to frozen land if need be.

Many problems with this I'm afraid. The nightwings have already developed rainwing resistant armor and I'm willing to bet that would help neutralize much of their threat. Rainwings would have to take an extremely stealthy approach an focus on assassinating key players in other tribes rather than winning battles. Rainwings are extremely frail in battle, after all. Venom means nothing if your opponent is smart enough to counter it. Icewings do extremely poorly in hot climates and need to be cold enough for frostbreath so they could never conquer the desert. I believe most of their territory is bordered by desert so they would have to conquer it first to move further inland to fight other tribes. Sandwing barbs are extremely dangerous but even easier to counter than rainwing venom as they could simply be cut off in a well aimed blow. Flamescales could be killed by well aimed projectiles, something they talk about in escaping peril.
@JadeMountainArchive
@JadeMountainArchive Жыл бұрын
Interesting thoughts! Here are some more of mine. 1. Yes, the nightwings did develop rainwing resistant armor and it did them SO much good in book 4. The issue with the armor is that the rainwings aren't going to engage in fair fights or planned battles. That would be a complete misuse of their powers. They're going to use guerrilla warfare, employing their stealth abilities to engage with opponents that aren't prepared, hit hard and fast, then retreat back into the wilds where they're nearly impossible to spot - just like they did during the rainwing rescue mission in book 4. Dragons can't be wearing their armor all the time and when they take it off is when the rainwings will strike. 2. Assassinating key players instead of winning battles is exactly how the rainwings should be fighting! That's not a bad thing - that's a strategy. "Cut off the head of the snake and the body will die," as they say. Once the command structure has been broken down, winning battles is easy. 3. It's difficult to counter venom if you have no idea when or where the venom is going to come from. 4. Icewings do worse in hot weather, that's true, but I think "extremely poorly" is incorrect. Winter was plenty cool enough to blast his Icebreath in Possibility (book 8) and in the Sandwing stronghold - the literal capital of the desert (book 10). Even if they weren't, there's enough overlapping land for them to head to the sky kingdom without going through the desert. 5. Saying that Sandwing barbs could be countered by cutting them off with a well aimed blow is like saying any fighter could be countered by cutting off their head with a well aimed blow. If you have good enough aim and fast enough speed to cut off a tail-barb, you should probably just kill them. 6. I like the idea of taking down a flamescale with projectiles, though you'd need some really strong projectiles to do it I think.

I totally think the RainWings would smoke the other tribes in a potential world war. The question is whether they would actually be motivated to fight and be willing to kill, but if they were then you can't even call it a fight. They would make quick work out of those fools or anyone who opposed them, but I don't think that tribe is going to put together enough will to do that anytime soon. I mean, Glory is by far to most fierce RainWing in the series and she still didn't want to use her venom to kill an assassin who's mission was to kill her. Now, I'm not saying that decision was a bad thing, (#TeamMurderbasket) but it shows how they can easily be swayed with a bit of compassion.

I definitely agree with RainWings being the tribe most likely to win, what with their stealth and venom abilities. However, I feel like HiveWings would be placed a bit higher on the list, maybe before or after SandWings. Yes, the HiveWings' powers are so random and all over the place but at the same time, they're not really rare. From what's been shown in the books, it appears that the HiveWings who were born with powers are more common than those who weren't (I could be wrong though). So there'd still be plenty of powerful HiveWings in their army and even the ones who don't have powers are still pretty strong. Not only that, but HiveWings also seem to be very versatile and I feel like they wouldn't have much difficulties conquering the Pyrrhian kingdoms, except for the Ice Kingdom and maybe the Kingdom of the Sea.

Personally i think the icewings via attention, when you can't possibly lose the result is in your favor no matter what, and as you said icewing's froatbreath is about as bad as the rainwings, while the rainwings are most certainly an extreamly lethal threat, their home is still POSSIBLE to assimilate, whilst icewings just kind of...don't care. That being said a powerful leafspeak in the poison jungle may as well be a god because that place is Australia but worse, to the point that Sundew in book 13 thought about unleashing the jungle on the hivewings if things went to crud.
@JadeMountainArchive
@JadeMountainArchive Жыл бұрын
Hahaha, true. Australia but worse is accurate. I have to wonder though because, by your argument here, the Seawings would be #1 - the Icewing's home is just really difficult to invade (but probably possible with a dedicated effort and enough resources) while I don't think that's the case for the Seawings at all.
@gabeprice2706
@gabeprice2706 Жыл бұрын
@@JadeMountainArchive the sense here is that the icewings are capable of putting up a fight, and can plan, however far fetched it may be, since time is no object, seawings stand no chance in an actual war, but get by since they can live their entire lives without ever seeing the sky, icewings are just below that, in that a hellbent tribe might be able to mount an offensive. It's like in magic the gathering with platinum angel, if you can't lose the game, and your adversity cannot win the game, eventully you'll find the plan that crumbles the tower, so yes seawings COULD do that since time is even leas of an object, but it seems more realistic that icewings beat them to it.

I think you've pretty much nailed it on the head. RainWings would win. Ignoring them, its an interesting race between the Night, Ice, and Sand... Sand and Ice would be decently balanced. Frost breath would be less effective in the desert, but SandWings would be crippled by cold even more so than others. When you consider 1/10 ish NightWings would have one of the two powers (3 moons, 30 days in a cycle.) they'd certainly have a tactical advantage, if not a weapons one, but consider, they are also the most... industrial is the wrong word, but they were making armor in Book 4. Also, a point *against* the RainWings, I read "No known natural weapons" meaning their teeth and claws are not sharp. I'm reasonably certain Glory never once attacks someone by means other than her magic death spit, and the lack of sharp teeth would explain the unanimous vegetarian lifestyle. Their venom is just, so several overkill though that this basically doesn't matter. The only issue is how much venom does each RainWing have? Nobody has ever been shown to "run out" Lastly, a point against SkyWings, particularly their Flamescales. In book 8, Qibli thought of several ways to defeat Peril within seconds of meeting her. Willing to bet that includes water. It reads less like her scales are hot, and more like her scales are enchanted to burn anything flamable they touch. If she was really hot enough to melt metal upon brief contact with her, you could not stand in the same room as her without being cooked. While surrounded by water, it effectively disenchants her scales temporarily (as we she touches a fish on the way into possibility, though I may be remembering that wrong.)
@JadeMountainArchive
@JadeMountainArchive Жыл бұрын
Good points! And to your comment about Nightwing powers, I was actually really intrigued by this question so I'm glad you brought it up hahaha. Since we know the "Brightest night," which happens when all 3 moons are full, occurs only once every hundred years or so we can estimate the lunar cycles of the Pyrrhian moons based on Least-Common-Multiple calculations (essentially by calculating the least amount of days it would take for all three lunar phases to align back at square one: full). Since 100 years is ~36,524 days (including leap years and assuming the Pyrrhian year is the same as our own), we're looking for the smallest set of three numbers with an LCM of about that much (note: it's possible that one moon just has a ridiculously long cycle and this is why it takes so long for them to line up but we're going to ignore that possibility otherwise these calculations are no fun). The smallest set of three numbers I could find that fit those criteria are: 29, 34, and 37. They would have a complete cycle of about 36,482 (about a month and a half off of a full century) days. If we do the math on that, it comes out to basically the same % of Nightwings with powers as you listed; about 1 in 10 or just little bit fewer than that, assuming it's entirely random. So, all of this is to say: I think you're right and math backs you up hahaha
@Fritzafella
@Fritzafella Жыл бұрын
@@JadeMountainArchive Wow. I thought I was the one with an interest in math! All I'd done was take 36,500 days, take the cube root of it, got 33.17, and called that a day. Also, I wanna point this out, cuz your number is actually SCARILY accurate. We know the timeline enough to know DS hatched 1998 years earlier than the DoD. Assuming 20 brightest nights happened between then, that makes brightest nights be 36,463.5 Days apart. Only 19 days off from yours. Now I want to corroborate those numbers... Cuz every night I can think of that mentioned, all 3 moons are up in the sky, if not full. And that only happens 1/8th of the time. If those numbers line up, then we could get not only canon years of hatching, but a cannon DAY for Moon given the criteria of twice moon born is fairly strict, especially when we know how many years its been since all 3 were full.
@JadeMountainArchive
@JadeMountainArchive Жыл бұрын
@@Fritzafella Hahaha, I didn't even think to incorporate Darkstalker's hatching into the calculations. It's so cool that that almost lines up! I reran some numbers with that in mind and, if we round it up to 36,464, we can make it work perfectly with 16, 43, and 53. Unfortunately, I don't think that calculation works unless we assume that the brightest nights happened on the same exact night each year (otherwise 1998 * 365 doesn't make sense - it would be something like 1997 * 365 + 257 or something like that instead). Ok, now I'm REALLY curious to see if there are any other clues we could use to see what time of year they each hatched in.

I strongly agree with the pick of RainWings. The combination of being able to turn invisible AND spray deadly (if not deadly, then extremely close) venom is unbeatable. They can hide and choose to attack at anytime they choose. Although some of them can’t control their emotions well (which correlates to their scale color), I feel like most of them can and will use/control their scales well. Most of the RainWings aren’t very stupid, so it would make sense that they would be clever enough to attack when they want. They also have extremely good flying skills as demonstrated in book 3. Having all these skills (scale color control, venom, experienced flight) would make you think that they are the best choice to win against the other tribes. Their skills can be countered, but not easily. It would take much intelligence to outsmart the RainWings abilities. That is why I agree with you JMA. Also, great video. It was an amazing one. Loved to hear your (accurate) opinion for this one.

When I clicked on this video I thought it was going to be all the characters that have a point of view book dedicated to them in a free for all, and instantly I thought Peril would win unless Qibli could come up with a way to kill her before anyone could kill him, and since he said he had like, three ways to kill her just by looking at her, mostly from afar until she landed beside him, I'd say he has a decent chance at it, but Peril would still only have to touch him for a couple seconds to win, so it could go either way, but then it turned out to be an actual world war, and I pretty much agree with these choices. Rainwings are EASILY the biggest threat to everyone else for pretty obvious reasons. The only draw back is that they would have to become non-pacifists in order to win, so who knows if they could do that before somebody killed them off?
@JadeMountainArchive
@JadeMountainArchive Жыл бұрын
Hahaha, I think if it was a free-for-all between protags, the winner would either be Qibli, Peril, or Turtle. Glory might come in as an upset victory but I think probably not. It would all depend on how close Qibli and Turtle started to one another. Qibli would pretty much immediately be going for Turtle because if he has time to cast any sort of spell he wins. Fortunately for the rest, Turtle isn't exactly a fast thinker (though he did hold his own against Anemone pretty well) so it's possible he goes down before he does anything.
@baltoswtor8736
@baltoswtor8736 Жыл бұрын
@The Jade Mountain Archive Yeah, I agree. Turtle would definitely win if he could come up with a spell fast enough, but I don't think it's too likely he will. Here's a question though, would Glory's venom affect Peril? Even if Glory missed the eyes, I think it would still burn her scales, at least for a little bit before the scales burned up the acid. Glory probably even poses a threat to Qibli because he couldn't even see Kinkajou standing right next to him, and being that close makes it hard to miss a target, even small targets like the eyes.
@JadeMountainArchive
@JadeMountainArchive Жыл бұрын
@@baltoswtor8736 Definitely what I was thinking - as soon as Turtle goes down, Qibli's next priority is Glory or, at least, finding a position where sneaking up on him would be really difficult. I love this idea so here’s my two cents about who would win! (If it seems biased it might be because I love rainwings and silkwings but anyways) 1: RAINWINGS They can turn invisible, they have deadly venom, they can hang upside down and use their tail as an extra hand, and if they can strategize well, they would be unstoppable. Also, their venom is basically instant death if injected into eyes, mouth, or into an open wound, and if they can shoot venom while they’re biting something, then their bites would be SUPER deadly, not to mention that they can sneak super well. Their only weakness is their passive nature and perhaps a silkwing’s ability to see via vibration, disrupting the camouflage. That’s all I have to say. Rainwings would definitely win.

It's not a guaranteed kill, it requires more accuracy, and if it land on scales the worst you'll have to deal with is melted scales. It's only difference to fire are, killing if it gets in eyes or mouth, it being droplets, and the damage to scales

I think the scavengers would have the best chance of winning. First of all, everyone would underestimate the scavengers, and barely attack them at all. Second of all, they are the most technologically advanced. They have ballistas, bows and arrows and catapults and no other tribe does. Third of all, they have scavenger dens in every kingdom (aside from the poison jungle). This would give them access to a variety of resources. Fourth of all, they have built secret towns underground. It would be very difficult for the other tribes to find them. Fifth of all, there is no animus magic, like you said, which is the only thing that would allow them to easily find the scavenger dens. Sixth of all, the other tribes can't capture scavengers and try to get information out of them to find the secret villages. They don't speak the same language. Seventh of all, very few dragons have shown interest in finding out things about scavengers and their weaknesses. This lack of knowledge would give the scavengers the upperhand. Eighth of all, many scavengers have shown interest in finding things about dragons. By the time of the war, they would be well aware of many of the dragon's weaknesses. Ninth of all, humans can go without food for 2 months while dragons, according to Starflight in book 4, can only go 1 month without eating. This means that if they attacked each others food supply, the dragons would starve to death first. Finally, while dragons will be able to take the high ground, or more accurately the high sky, they won't be able to take full advantage of it. The main advantage of having the high ground is that you barely have to lead your shots while firing at closer range. However, at no point in the entire wings of fire series, do we see a dragon using a bow. Of course, this is all just a theory and only my way of rating the scavengers.

Personally, I think the Nightwings should be with the rain wings. Imagine a whole army of mind reader and seers, because 2,000 years in the future from arc 3 the Nightwings might have started hatching their eggs in the full moons and maybe half of the tribe or more would have some of those powers, so they would probably be almost invincible, and not to mention that the rain wings and Nightwings are basically the same tribe since glory became queen. I agree with your rankings for the most part, but there are some things I would change First off, I would place the leaf wings right below the sand wings and the hive wings right below the leaf wings. While it is possible to get rid of the trees to hinder the leaf wings, the leaf wings also have other weapons and are very resourceful. Second, I believe that the only reason the hive wings won was because they gradually got rid of the trees - weakening the leaf wings without them noticing - and the hive wings had the silk wings on their side, doubling their numbers. Secondly, I would categorize Rainwings and Nightwings as the same tribe due to the fact that they are being ruled under one queen. While this could change in the future, it might not for a while (especially if the nightwings are happy living in the rainforest 200 years from now). This would make the rainwings and nightwings overpowered. Thirdly, it is possible that because the rainwings and nightwings are being ruled under the same queen, their tribes could merge, creating a tribe of nightwing-rainwing hybrids (which would have another name) This would remove the possibility of the tribes separating, which would support how overpowered they would be. Fourthly, while rainwings and nightwings would be very dominant, it is possible that in 200 years armor is created to block rainwing venom. The hive wings already invented glass, making it possible for them to still see even with protection over their eyes. Not to mention armor would be very useful in this war to block many attacks (sandwing tail barb, icewing claws, any claws, rainwing venom, hive wing abilities, etc.) Because of this reason a rule should be created that the tribes can’t use armor. Fifth, I think you underestimated the sand wings and they should be placed right below the rainwings and nightwings. Not only do they have the tail barb, but they have fire, which gives them a bonus when attacking the 5/6 tribes that don’t. They also can survive very long with less food and water than other tribes, a trait that would allow them to travel longer with less breaks. Not to mention the fact that they can fly for a long time in the desert’s high heat. So with all things considered and with other things I haven’t discussed, this is what I believe the ranking should be: Rainwings and nightwings Sand wings Ice wings Leafwings Hivewings Sky wings Mudwings Sea wings Silkwings Scavengers

This is a really great video and an exciting concept that I have thought about a lot personally. While I mostly agree with everything you said I think you put a little too much emphasis on the abilities of each tribe rather than their tactical ability and how they could fight a war. Well, actually you did cover these things but not too extensively. For example, I think if the SkyWings thought of it they could conduct a fairly effective blitz on the rainforest and Poison Jungle using cacti bombs and fire if they wanted to. This would have weakened the RainWings and LeafWings a lot in battle. Also, I think SkyWings have a great combination of warrior philosophy and the numbers to back it up which would it a dangerous tribe in war. It's a shame that we didn't see too much of this kind of strategy in the books. Overall, I really liked the vid and agreed with the tier list.

Good points! If the war was happening with the dragons we know, I think their current tribal dispositions would be a big factor. I was hesitant to lean on those too heavily in the video because it takes place hundreds of years in the future and I figured it was possible tribes changed - the rainwings used to be one of the most militaristic and feared tribes of any after all! And look at them now hahaha

Very true! I totally understand why you didn't put this in the video but another important factor would be numbers. For example, the RainWings and NightWings have the ability to dominate the war but would struggle without the numbers to properly hold territory. While larger tribes like HiveWings and SkyWings don't have as great of abilities but could control a lot more territory.
