The ATG team's last couple of days in Belize were spent resting and relaxing at Caye Caulker. After that, it was back to work. Get the full story about Bacalar and Tulum in Mexico here. Lots to learn about the ancient ruins of Chacchoben and the mysterious Gran Cenote.
We hope you enjoy watching this #antiquitiestravelguide about #Chacchoben, Caye Caulker, Bacalar, and the Gran Cenote of Tulum as much as we enjoyed making it.

I remember visiting Chaccoben and Tulum a couple of years ago. It’s still an incredible experience seeing the Mayan ruins

Really enjoy your vlog of your travels in southern Mexico. My wife and I visited Chichen Itza, Tulum and Merida years ago and it was a memorable and fascinating trip.Your vids really expand that experience.

Key Caulker is where I’ve stayed. It’s changed A LOT! There were no hotels, only sparse rooms and huts to rent. We had to pay a fisherman to take us there from Belize City as there was no dedicated transport back then. I love it.

Getting there is the most expensive part. Once you're there, it's fairly cheap.

You are living the Corona commercial. I travel with via YT. Twaz sad to see the eroded stelle. 1970s I saw on the PBS station explores in an unexplored Maya city turn over a face down stelle protected from time & element. It was near perfect & beautiful. I still recall one explorer loooooong whistle at it.

We visited Tulum in 2003. Parts were roped off then. Within a few months to a year, reports came out of excavations finding remains and offerings in the Grand Cenote.

When I see you relax and enjoy the beach, the question came to my mind is, did our ancestors feel the same ? did they enjoy the nature as we do in the present day. btw, a nice video :-)

That is a legitimate perk of establishing a civilization in a tropical environment.

David - you're a natural ! I loved that you showed where your car was going ; also that you were able to eat without getting Montezuma's revenge. Beautiful video, and interesting dialogue. Did mom tell you that she and your dad were also in Tulum?

Man, did you miss Ek Balám? It has a HUGE crocodile jaw on top of a super wide pyramid. Kohunlich? It has enormous Mayan faces on the sides of a pyramid and some impressive stairs that lead to what feels like another city inside the city. Dzibanché and Kinichná are smaller but they have a very tall pyramid. Cobá? That one goes without saying you have to go, superb tall pyramid and with two underground cenotes you do after, incredible (oh, nevermind!). Oxtankah? That one has the ruins of a Spanish church inside the Mayan ruins! Chacchoben, incredibly, is the one I'm missing. I spend time in the zone regularly because an uncle built an hotel in Bacalar, yes, more beautiful (and cheaper) than the one you stayed in (I took some of the pictures that adorn the rooms and hotel, so of course it's more beautiful ;) ), if I had known I would have contacted you for a discount. Currently I'm not in the zone, and watching your video makes me wonder, yet again, what the devil I'm doing in central Mexico.

Dr. Miano! Is that a tattoo?! OMG! I didn't know you had a tattoo! I never pegged you as the tattoo type. I couldn't see it clearly though, what is it? Also, are you and Cassy a couple? If not, you should be. She's much younger than you, but you still make a good couple. :)

I just realized that was the first time I showed it on camera. Yeah, I got it about 6 years ago. It's a reproduction of an Assyrian sphinx.
