OMG, my mother was HOOKED on this game in the 90s! My best friend had it and brought it over one time when she was spending the weekend at our house while her parents were out of town. My mother saw us playing it and that was it. She just had to play! My friend ended up letting us keep the game since she somehow had two copies of it and almost every night before bed, my mother would have to get a little Aladdin play time in! My mom was a teacher and she would usually get home from school/work slightly before me and I would frequently find her down in our game room playing it. It was so hilarious because for the longest time, my parents were totally against having video games in the house because they were worried that they would turn me into a zombie and that they would interfere with my school work and sports, but THEY were the ones who ended up getting hooked! Haha! My dad loved this Ken Griffey Jr. baseball game that we had and an Andre Agassi tennis game that we also had. My mother was more into the Disney/Mario/Donkey Kong Country games, but she also LOVED, and I mean LOVED NBA Jam! She would practically BEG me to play with her when I was a teenager! I have so many fond memories of the SNES! Definitely my favorite console of the 90s!

I must have played this game so much as a kid, that, as an adult, I still have two of this game's passwords memorized (Genie, Jafar, Aladdin, Abu: the password to the Genie stages, and Abu, Aladdin, Genie, Jasmine: the password to the pyramid stages). Watching this made me remember how short this game is. I loved this game, but it skips parts of the movie that would have made good levels, such as Aladdin escaping the Arctic/Antarctic region that Jafar banished him to.

As I watch this, it just now occurred to me, over twenty years after I first played this game, that the gem icons at the stage clear screen are specifically counting red gems. I always thought it was just a logarithmic scale of your score compared to the max potential. I was satisfied getting it over halfway when I was a kid. Also, imagine playing this having never watched the movie and trying to glean the story through this game's cutscenes.

Our least favourite was the carpet level where we try to outrun the tidal wave of lava.
