Yeah that's mostly the operator, probably had that job for years and has them convinced he's the best when he's pretty slow and wastes a lot of movement, I ran 850's and they're excellent machines!

Ah, the port of Enns a.d. Donau, very nice and clean port. On the other side we unloaded soja not too long ago. The new crane looks a lot better than the old one, only the crane operator needs to work on his speed, with good crane operators on these hydraulic cranes, our barges are unloaded in record time compared to the cable grab cranes in Regensburg for instance.

I bet it has different attachments for different types of cargo. Loading and unloading. There are plenty of larger clam shells around.

It's expensive and slow. I think it is more faster if they use conveyors, loading is constant. That huge mechanism takes time to travel while loading and unloading. It's travel after unloading.

Those are specialized unloaders… This is a material handler. It’s used by a wider range of companies for different types of jobs.

The invention of the combustion engine ended the need for so much backbreaking work. Such clever machines have been created. Imagine what that would take without machinery. Unless you live somewhere where labour and life is cheap and bosses are too stingy to modernise. Or the communists are in charge and want to use medieval techniques as Soviets did when building those canals. 😬

This is like a Fred Flintstone tech. It's an antiquated method. Too slow , to sloppy and too costly. A system similar to that of the Panama canal where controlled water space can rise and lower . these loaded barges can be made to unload from a higher water level onto their respective vats. Letting gravity do most of the work. Doing it right the first time will save billions in the long run. 🤔

😂funny that you guys saying it takes generations to unload.. this is the same as what other harbours have. Slight change in the machine design only. Otherwise it takes the same time as what other harbours has
