Everything is illegal in the UK if you're carrying for self defence. You can carry a screwdriver for work, but if you tell the cops that you're carrying it to defend yourself that makes it an offensive weapon and it becomes illegal.

If your aggressor is running at you and sees the pistol being drawn that is an immediate deterrent due to it looking similar if not identical to an actual firearm. And yet another note: Pens are extremely effective tools in combat due to their size making them look unassuming giving the attacker a false sense of security. That security being false due to pens being able to damage muscle and incapacitate people by disabling limbs.

Kinda wish the boys could see some of these tools from a woman's perspective, i get it can be funny and may seem useless and the style isn't completely necessary. But the majority of women feel unsafe walking down a street alone and having tools like these can be really helpful and useful for protection and having style makes it seem less scary for yourself and feel less as if you're carrying a weapon down the street.
