I’m a retired blacksmith who loves physics and has the curiosity of a ten year old, listening to you both is a fascinating insight into the real tough hard work that theoretical physicists do in order to make mathematical sense of the universe. I’d like to thank you if I may for your time in making these constructive discussions available to us, they’re wonderful.

Best moment: when Lenny asks Brian if he's interested in his private speculations. Brian leans forward and smirks. 1:09:27 "Yeah, I wouldn't mind."

I'm 70, so in my 8th decade; I think challenging one's brain to handle novel ideas is a very powerful way to mentally "work out". The fantastic thing about communicating science is that we live in an age when the lay person can grasp these wonderful big ideas usefully without being able to quantify every math detail. It's the novel ideas that inspire and thrill and leave the memory of the concepts to mull over.

1:40 that part is awesome. I hope to understand it better. Question: Can we consider matter as warped spacetime?

A wonderful dialogue between two wonderful physicists in a wonderful series. There are too many comments to read through and see if anyone else already mentioned this: If you are watching with subtitles, be aware that, besides the usual misspellings of proper names, "brains" are really "branes" -- sort of like membranes, but membranes are two-dimensional and branes can have various dimensions.

When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.

Except as a scientist I would never claim a finite set of possibilities. Thus why mathematics is not a science and String theory is not science

Theory Space is infinite, beyond all possibility of winnowing and eliminations. That's why Sherlock Holmes jumped off the building in that multi-part documentary about his life and its end.

Information has mass (it can actually be weighed in some fundamental sense). It thus has gravity and this limits how much can be in any volume before it forms a black hole and nothing gets in unless the hole gets bigger.. Is this the fundamental connection between gravity (General Relativity) and information (Quantum Mechanics)?
