I feel like Kanoa deserved a much higher score for his first wave, but a lower score on his last one. It all evens out. He still deserved the win in my opinion.

are you joking how was that last one a 8.83 what the hell. That wasn't even close to an 8.0. at most a 6.50

The slater has to be studied, at age 44 and with a performance of this, the guy has the dna different from the others.

bad scoring of the last ride Slater got robbed

Kelly was robbed but barely, kanoa should have gotten about the same score as kelly's best wave, giving kelly the slight win. One was more technical and about a second longer, the other was far bigger, more perfect, and shapely, but shorter and easier.

Slater will remain one of the iconic surf figures of all times, he masters the style, the technic and the agressivity of the performance! A lot of those emerging « young » surfers are just « aping » him..

It was a big wave, but he had to really stall to manufacture what was an OK barrel. It was as if the wave itself was scored as an 8.8 and not the surfer. I would have score Kanoa with a 7.5 ...8 tops. The waves were so inconsistent that they over-scored a set wave. Kelly's barrel at
