Getting "Hit" at a WWII Re-enactment: Lauer Farms 2022 Sunday Battle

Okay so maybe I'm not the best actor out there, but I still had a lot of fun during this battle. I'm often portraying a medic at these events, so it was nice to have other medics helping me out for a change. My M1 Garand had a few isues during this battle as you can see in the video, but it's probably just because it was overdue for a cleaning. I have much more footage from this event and others that I've attended recently, and I'll be uploading that within the next few weeks. Make sure you're subscribed so you don't miss out!

It depends, for civil war reenacting yes, they're completely un-modified and can shoot live rounds, but obviously that isnt allowed and you'll get caught, but for modern conflicts like ww2, most guns like bolt actions are normal, but automatic weapons have to be modified to be able to use blank ammo

@@RRRPoIarBear No, nothing is actually being shot out of the gun, all a blank is is just some loose gunpowder being shot, If you wanna know how we can tell if we've been hit or not, theres a great video by a KZfaqr called Brandon F., and he has a video all about getting "hit" in reenactments

Looks like brilliant fun. When I joined the RAF in the early 80s we used blanks for training. I'd love to do something like re enacting to get that feeling back. Keep up the great work.

@@Xboxplaysgames I think they just take hits based on what will be dramatic and suit the casualty rate they need from the battle they’re reenacting. I’m just guessing here of course, but i’d have thought they don’t actually hit each other considering his decision to “get hit” and how close the crowd are.

I want so badly to be a WWII Re-enactor. It brings in the two things I love most, theater and history. I would just love the idea of being able to be in a battle and see what it's like, but then not die a tragic death.

my husband is South African Zulu and took part in a Reinactment of the second Boer war and the Anglo-Zulu war. I never know of many conflicts in the country of my husband’s ancestry. Excellent acting and this looks interesting to me

I find the idea of reenactments like this interesting. But i can't get over the fact that whenever someone goes down, it is entirely dependent on when that person decides "I guess i got shot now". Like that could literally lead to 1 shot is fired, and 2 people in separate areas decide, "Oh that hit me, time to go down".

Man, that looks like fun. Obviously, it wasn't for the young guys who did it for real, but it looks like a great way to get a little taste of what our grandfathers went through. I love the kit, and I absolutely love the sound of the MG when she rips, that's a real brown-inducing noise. Absolutely insane.

Maybe they could give each reenactor a tag regardless of whether they’ll decide to get shot or not. The reenactors can know before everything or just before deciding to get shot. That way it would avoid the “shot in the leg and get a head tag” thing

We use casualty cards in actual Army training. No leadership ever seemed to have anything major. Sucking chest wound was common and I bet I treated a thousand of those last time we used them.

Remember to use the helmet chin strap..we would get a rollicking by the sgt if we forgot..it is because as you lean over a casualty the helmet falls off and whacks their face. Undercover you of course can remove your helmet.

Nope it's all blanks. You just watch for smoke or flashes in your direction or run out of ammo or something happens that you can't continue.
