Amino acid is being dosed to a service client’s reef tank. This results in more coloration and growth for the corals!

I find nothing colors up my corals as effectively as a water change.

You kind of have to use a filter on your camera to film these corals but my tank looks like this too. A lot of it is the light on the tank too.
@Grant53219 ай бұрын
Also that coral food (red seas nutrients AB+) is pretty fluorescent. I dose a bit of it too but I’ve been told if you have bad bacteria it can promote their growth becuase they really like it.

I don’t think that stuff does colour up your corals. One day I might do an actual control experiment, but until then I’m pretty sure stability, the right lighting, flow and plenty of normal food gives colour to corals. I found this stuff spikes phosphates. Looks cool when you drop in in the water but for me that’s about it.
@WorldWideCorals Жыл бұрын
It's all about stability for sure!! If you keep the right water parameters, your tank will thrive and grow quickly! That's pretty much what we do with all of our tanks. Make sure we test water parameters multiple times a week. The amino acid is just something extra that we've used and seen success with.

The Component 1+2+3+ of Aquaforest does a better job to color up our corals and doesn't create any PO4 (phosfate) spikes.
@zendlern5 ай бұрын
This is part of the stability of done right. Will replenish nutrients for the coral that is eaten up. It’s kinda like dosing, but if overdone it can make phos/nitrate to spike.

AB+ doesn’t seem to raise my nutrients. Believe it or not for sps tanks you need a lot of nutrients. While my tank isn’t anything amazing I am copying most of the stores and farms parameters. WWC runs at 0.1 ppm phosphate and 25 ppm nitrate. The guy I get my acros from runs at 50 ppm nitrate and 0.2 ppm phosphate. Basically the higher the nitrate the more wiggle room you have for phosphates.

We've never really had issues with it, of course it all comes down to making sure your parameters can with stand adding anything like this to the tank. The same goes towards any types of coral foods as well, it can be beneficial if used correctly, but of course it's not needed to keep a healthy tank :)
