For the first in our Worn In series, we travel to downtown Johannesburg, where for the Skhothane, life is all about looking good and making money. As The Casa Novas and The Pro Italian Takers take it outside to the streets of Tembisa, director Pieter Hugo jumps in the middle as they battle it out wearing odd shoes, leopard print and gold grills, ritually wasting food and booze, in a battle to prove which group’s got the most cash.

I feel like this is just a purer more honest version of our own society which is why I think it's funny how we're criticizing them. We consume and create so much waste but convince ourselves that we're better than the Skhothane life.

I dont condone this wasteful materialism in the slightest. But given their environment, you can see why they're so desperate to live in excess. We see it many countries that have experienced political oppression. Look at the style and tastes of the rich in Russia or the Middle East. Very flashy, gaudy and excessive. Both areas experienced oppressive regimes and that was the people's response once they were free from it. You could almost compare it to a sheltered child rebelling once she's left the restrictive home of her parents.

from the Plan. the money comes from the Plan. as they explain it several times . . you make a PLAN, and from that plan that you made, that's where the money would originate. pretty simple.

People that may like the same interests or lifestyle, but not to the same degree, can be categorized with the same people, ending with those that didn't take their interest to the extremes being treated like a plague.

whats so shocking black America does the same things. making other people rich, there is no future in being the worlds consumer, that produces very little in today's African American society. there was a time in the not to distant past that most black communities where business oriented. we have had that taken away from us by design. some are lost in make believe fantasy's because they have never had anything so they think. i don't know, would you prefer a loving family or $1M U.S. people want to look and act like what they programmed to do through media, and government collusion with media, educational system, the societal norms. controlled perceptions of what they are told what they want. many of them have never had an original thought in there lives. your no different Preconceived notions without bases, is fundamentally wrong. research .
